I really wish they had a construction webcam like Rogers in Edmonton did but it sounds like that won't be in the cards. I see some good pictures on a fairly regular basis but don't have access to them or permission to post them. But yes, it's all mainly below grade and mainly concrete pouring on at the moment. Walls, floor slabs, columns etc. The structural steel progression will be fun to watch once the building is above grade.

It was never the same after that certifiable lunatic who ran 'The Lions' Den' gave it up.
That man was a treasure!

I recommend looking ahead to an “undesirable” game. For example, Buffalo on December 8, looks like flights around $120 from Toronto (I think you’re around there?) and you can probably snag great seats the day of or just before for less than $150 (and less than $100 for average seats). My friends and I sat lower bowl at the attacking end last season for $60 each.
The Dome is an experience. People crap on it but I think it’s a gem and definitely worth experiencing at least once. Dome Foam will run you like $13 for a cup but they actually have an amazing happy hour deal for an hour or so before the game (get there 1.5 hours early). Two beers and a burger will only run you $18 (and it’s a good burger).
Stay at a crappy hotel for $80 and uber over or take the train if you’re on the line. All in you could do it for $300-350 if you don’t care who they play and don’t care about staying somewhere nice.
|
Basically, if you drink enough of these, the fact that the dome is brutal is less of a factor, and you can enjoy your night.

I'm too scared to eat at the dome in case I need an emergency crap. I have anxiety gut that is unpredictable. Zero chance I am crapping in a Dome washroom.

I had an emergency poop at the Dome during a No Doubt concert.
You're a wise man for this stance

All my Dome poops were in a suite, and they were delightful.

Hover option is not there when its emergency, because damage will happen and questions asked.

That's basically why I won't go to a game that is not suite tickets. Got to be weary of that sort of buffet suite club (whatever the name is). Scout the bathrooms, and not eat the free buffet.

If you are in a suite, stick to the suite appy menu, that's my advice.
The pub food ain't bad though.

It was that "club" and a very communal bathroom. I can't remember the name. Platinum club or something.
Need a domeschitters app for tips.

I suspect it was better than the main hallway. The only people using those are kids and emergencies. you don't want to follow either

I'll never forget the horror of taking my daughter into the men's bathroom at age 5.
"let me clean that first ..."

I'll take you to a game. I've got sweet ass seats in PL11 row 1 on the aisle, the whole experience will make you feel like a VIP. I park at stampede hq, walk through the main ticket office, take the elevator up to the suite level. Great space up there behind the suits and in the restaurant to chill, then just 1 flight of stairs to get to the press level. Best part, besides the vantage point I'd reckon is that the bathrooms are 15 feet behind the seats, so being on the aisle, you can go during a TV timeout and be back in plenty of time. Even if you wait until an intermission you'll be the first one in due to the proximity!
Being close to that beautiful Saddledome roof and its sexy lines completes the experience. I always find myself admiring it every single game.
I'm going to miss this building. Just 2 seasons left with the old girl.

PL row 1 are the best seats in the house! I had seasons there for a few years, including the run to the finals. You can see the play develop in a way that other seats don't offer.

Were you the guy who broke into a suite and smeared his poop all over the suite bathroom walls at a Metallica concert in the early aughts?

East loge rows 1-3 were the best.

I've got goosebumps now thinking about being up there for the run. The o/t goal game 6 vs. Detroit is the loudest it's ever been in there, I think. Such a release of tension... unbelievable!

I remember that, and the many home playoff games I got to attend during the 04 run.
I was working at the mall at the time and got to be friends with a couple guys at Sportchek. And they had draws at the stores to buy PO tickets because of the demands. There were kind enough to "draw my name" to buy 4 seats for every PO game up at the Sportchek zone (now the PL section). Those are not assigned seating, and every game a couple of my buddies went into the dome the minute they opened the doors (like 3-4 hours before game time) to grab seats with the best views. The amount of beers we consumed during the 04 run was obscene!!
Eventhough the dome is now old and deemed unsuitable for NHL hockey games and concerts, I fear that the new arena will just be another cold, cookie-cutter, soulless square box without any character.

Can I just say, this is why I love this place. What a kind offer.
Can confirm PL row 1 are great seats to watch the game from and truly the authentic Dome experience. Take him up on it diss!
