New Champions and Europa League are about to start, so lets kick it off!

Crystal Palace appeal rejected.

Quote:
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has rejected Crystal Palace's appeal against their demotion from the Europa League to the Conference League over multi-club ownership (MCO) rules.

UEFA's Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) ruled last month that Palace were too closely linked to Lyon.

Palace's appeal had three strands: the CFCB's decision was unfair and unjust, against Forest being elevated to the Europa League, and against Lyon's participation. All three were rejected by CAS.

Nottingham Forest are the beneficiaries, promoted from the Conference League to play in the Europa League. Palace must enter the Conference League in the playoff round later this month, when they will play the losers of the Europa League tie between Fredrikstad and FC Midtjylland -- the second leg is being played on Thursday.

About to start? It started in June! 4 teams from the first preliminary round are still alive.

Malmo, Shkendja, Kairat, and Ludogorets in champions league

These guys would have to win 4 rounds to get to the final 36, it's the 3rd round this week.

Surprised it hasn't been mentioned but Spurs really Spurs'd up the super cup today - Up 2-0 at the 85th minute and lose in penalties.

They did indeed. PSG put on some subs presumably with instructions to 'play' and then it was one-way traffic.

And I dont think Spurs fans are going to be able to mock Arsenal as 'Free Kick FC' this year.

I mean objectively hilarious and the Spurs archetype, but basically no one cares about this one. Smart of Frank though, last Spurs manager to win a trophy got #### canned.

Naw, it was just to get legs under them and some minutes, try out some players, shake off some rust, etc.

Its just getting close to regular season.

Even though I did not watch, sounds like it was what we wanted for a friendly, it was entertaining. Had some shocks, had some drama, some tragedy, and most importantly comedy. Good show I guess.

I had it on in the background and, yeah, for a friendly it was pretty good. For a day with really nothing else on it worked for me.

I thought that Spurs looked good, and just didn’t have the bench to compete with PSG. If anything, I thought that was a good performance though, and despite the loss it wasn’t that bad. Really, it’s a glorified friendly, and Spurs acquired themselves well.

My team Dundee United just lost on penalties to Rapid Vienna in the Uefa Conference League after 2-2 draws both home and away. A lot of people give Scottish football a hard time but we showed we can go toe to toe with a very good team who got to the last 8 last year. I was hoping we would get through and maybe face Crystal Palace (my English team) at some point down the line - but it wasn’t to be. Glad to have football back!!!!

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt you always felt this way; however watching a lot of Spurs fans go from "we're winning a 2nd major European trophy" to " it's just a friendly" in 10 minutes was funny.

To be honest, he is right.

The last time I went to a game, wast the Community Shield v Man City. We won on penalties, it felt good, but not even good in a we got 3 points way. It meant nothing, we drank some beer, went home and never spoke of it again.

This was just the European version of it.

Would some Spurs fans not shut up about it if they won? Yeah. Heck, I was at a wedding last Saturday between a beautiful Gooner and a Spurs fan. Some of his mates were singing 1-0 because Spurs beat us in a friendly earlier this month.

But that’s just fandom.

I don’t deny that I would’ve rather won, but mostly because one of friends can be annoying about these things, and I’d have loved to have had it to hold over him. But I said the same thing to a friend who supports Liverpool about the Community Shield last week. I know the players try, and they do want to win. But it’s really not a legitimate final. There’s no way some of the subs get made by Frank if that’s an actual, meaningful final.
