Been reported in the past that the Sens are on his 6 team NTC list a few months ago so probably low chance he would be willing to sign there long term unless Ottawa can convince him.

Sounds like Andersson won’t be looking out for the Flames best interest. Hopefully Conroy does.

Players shouldn’t be the ones looking out for the teams best interests anyways.

Yeah thats not how it wotks

Yeah. Generally not how it works.

Thats like if you're Fred Flintstone and collect your cheque when the work-whistle stops.

It is far, far more complicated than that for Professional Athletes.

What's complicated about it? Rasmus is under no obligation to sign an extension anywhere he doesn't want to. He has his negotiated NTC and the Flames are welcome to trade him to any destination not on that list. If the value the team expected to be there isn't there welp ya misread the market and that's just how she goes sometimes boys.

Edit: oh taxes? *long extended fart noise*

I was speaking about Tax Treatment of income earned by Professional Athletes who play in multiple differently-taxed jurisdictions and have access to deferred Revenue opportunities, Investment and Retirement programs in order to shelter their earnings.

Its not as simple as "Place B has lower taxes than Place A"

Except they don't. They like to spend their dough, and they want their dough now. Read a Russian or Slovakian interview with a player. It's all cars, houses, money.

Lots of these guys have no patience for a deferred revenue plan. Plus, the taxes have to be paid. The sheltering doesn't save them that much at the end of the day.

It doesn't mean the Sens can't reengage. I hope they are.

Not sure the Sens have a whole lot we would want, or that they would be willing to part with. Their pipeline for younger players seems a bit weak at the moment.

Maybe there could be something around Kleven and their 2027 first. Would be easier to make a trade with them if they had their 2026 first.

I would do Bean and Andersson for Kleven and the 2027 first.

Don't engage with him. Him and DreDayPucks don't add anything but trying to piss posters off and stir up the hive. Put them both on ignore and don't give them any attention. Returning banned posters are the only bad part of CP. Don't let them do their thing.

Just my opinion, but while I like Kleven- I would be hoping for more in a trade for Andersson. Perhaps something around Shane Pinto (I know, people are probably getting tired of hearing his name in Flames rumors) or Ridly Greig?

At the end of the day, Andersson will be a UFA and he should be the one who chooses where he signs long-term. I don't have a problem with that.

I don't either, but if he is only looking at 1-3 teams that he wants to play for, maybe just take the best offer from whoever isn't on his no trade list. Prices aren't going up at the deadline.

McKenna sweepstakes could see teams tanking more than normal by the deadline. If Vegas is 1 team Ras want, by the deadline Vegas might have many options.

It’s not that there are only 1/3 teams he wants to play for. It’s that there are a small number he would sign with now and bypass free agency.
I also don’t know how you can say that prices won’t go up. Right now there is probably not much of a market because teams have their rosters set
As we get into the season the demand should expand again

But there is a market. The Stars really could use Ras. Vegas has AP gone for the year maybe ever. LA already went after him and he didn't want to sign there. Ottawa wants him. Teams just don't want to pay Conroy's price unless he signs.

2026 is looking to be 2023 good. When 8-10 teams start to go in tank mode by the deadline. IMO there will be more than Ras available. Right now, Ras is the only 1 available.

Trade him now. If he won't sign in LA, that seems like a player who has a short list of teams he wants to play for.

Why doesn't it mean he just doesn't like LA?
