Red Sox finally losing is a breath of fresh air. Bunch of clowns.
Probably the toughest 6 game stretch of the season coming up. In LA against the Dodgers before heading home to face the Cubs. Aim for a 3-3 there and anything more is just peachy. Schedule really lightens up after that. September will be a bit of a grind not necessarily because of the quality of the teams but because the Rays and O's just own the Jays no matter what. It would be nice if they could get to a 6 or 7 game lead in the division before then.

The Jays pitching was awesome this series. 5 earned runs given up by the starters and the bullpen didn’t allow a run with only 3 hits.
The altitude is a major reason for the Rockies struggles though. No quality free agent pitcher will ever sign there.

What I have heard a lot is that because the outfield there is so big and fielders tend to play a bit deeper it results in a lot more bloop singles that normally get caught. When they talked to Varsho after the game on Monday he noted that he was always told...if you let too many of those happen, that's when you start getting 3 run home runs instead of solo shots. So he said he makes a point to play shallower there, and trusts that he'll still be able to get back and get the catchable balls that go over him.
But little things like a player being able to tag up on a mid depth fly ball to right or center and go from 2nd to 3rd after a lead off double. Plus the extra base guys can get occasionally. That can add up over a season in terms of how many extra runs you give up. Over the past 3 years the numbers I saw had it first for hits, singles, and triples above average, second for doubles, and seventh for home runs. Triples had a park factor of 201.

Yeah sounds like things got a bit dicey for Buck but good to have him back.
Only so much of Siddal and Joseph one can take.
On another note, read an article that this is the third time Scherzer and Kershaw have pitched against each other. Not too many times 3k pitchers face each other.
1st time was in 2008 when Maddux was supposed to face Randy Johnson, but Johnson got hurt and they pushed Maddux back a day, so rookies Kershaw and Scherzer came in.
Other time faced each other was Game 1 of NLCS in 2016.

Bah. That was unlucky. So close to a big inning for the Jays.

I hate teams like the Dodgers who just buy championships.

Yeah, but atleast the Dodgers kind of suck at it. They have 1.5 world series(the .5 being the vivid year) in the last 40 years while out spending teams by hundreds of millions.
Jays have really been holding their own tonight. Just a shame that they have hit into 3 double plays.

Sigh. And then Ohtani gets a bigger break than having his interpreter take the fall. That's frustrating.

Little is Genesis Cabrera 2.0. He can be very good but he literally has no idea where the ball is going.

They haven't been out spending teams for 40 years though. They're a perennial contender now because they outspend everyone, that's all that matters.

The Dodgers beat you with a $340mil payroll, that's it. No more reason to look anymore into it than that. What's crazy to me is sporttracs breakdown of payroll verses what is actually playing on the field. The Marlins are playing $38mil in roster players per night.
Is there not single players making more than that?!?

In these two series if we could get a couple wins and move on, I'm happy.

With their record vs above .500 teams, you have to be aiming for an even record. There's no reason to feel like this team can't do it.

Snell with 5 strikeouts of 7 batters through 2 innings. Making the Jays look foolish. Fastball, high fastball, curve ball has been the recipe for 4 of the 5 and Jays fell into it.
