Wow. They really didn't seem to like it very much. One would think a film with Ice Cube as the leading man that would be a sure fire hit.

Since I saw that Nobody 2 was coming out soon, I decided to finally sit down and watch Nobody.

Full disclosure...I am a massive Bob Odenkirk fan. In my eyes, he can do no wrong.

What a fascinating parable about masculinity, identity, and having a midlife crisis. What seems like a simple revenge tale is quite deep in the themes above. What begins as an interesting story about how a man perceives his own masculinity and role in life, quickly descends into a middle-aged man's gore and action porn fantasy.

If I were an objective viewer, I would probably say it was hackey or in bad taste. However, since I am also a middle-aged dad going through his own midlife crisis, I loved every second of it.

Moar please.

I made it exactly 6 minutes. I couldn’t even hate watch it. So, so bad. And my god the quick cut editing. I hate the tiktok generation! Why does every movie have to have 15 cuts every 3s?
Oh come on it wasn't that bad, I made it to about 20 minutes

I saw Weapons twice already.... Brilliant movie! So well crafted and engaging. I loved Barbarian (and Companion), which were both similar in tone. Zach Cregger is doing Yeoman's work when it comes to making these kinds of movies. Don't go in expecting straight up horror, as while the movie has spine tingling moments, it's also funny and satirical as well. I've seen some compare it to Longlegs, but I don't see the similarities. Weapons isn't nearly as abstract, it felt morelike from Steven King. I liked how the story was told from multiple perspectives, then once the last thread is unraveled it really hit home.

The audience at the screening was really engaged as well. I saw a couple critics complain that it's not always scary, but the director was obviously going in a different direction. It's the same as Barbarian where the audience is trained to find humour in seeing something ridiculous. Black Phone had that kind of out of place humour as well, but it's still a chilling story when it wants to be. My wife was on the edge of her seat and jumped a few times, the movie is scary when it wants to be. Last I checked it's still 96% on Rottentomatoes. Easily one of the best movies of 2025. Right there with Sinners and Companion in the horror genre bending category.

To save anyone actually thinking about spending any time watching the actual movie

Default Recommend (or don't) a movie thread v2

Up until recently, I wouldn’t have believed employees of DHS would be so lax with their computer policies.

What happened to Ice Cube!? He’s losing aura.

The sudden left turn into dark comedy that Barbarian took when it began to follow Justin Long's character was what elevated it for me from decent horror to brilliant genre-blending.

They even made a comedy-themed trailer for the movie by cherry picking scenes, which I found really amusing.

Looking forward to seeing Weapons. I had to wait a couple of days for my friends to become available but we can't wait for it.

Heard it's both frightening and gut bustingly funny.
