Size, yeah, but Zary doesn't really use his anyways so I am not sure it really separates them in value.

Stankoven is also a year younger, and has better AHL numbers.

I think the point is they aren't that far apart though at the NHL level.

Similar pedigree, similar games played.

If Stankoven is worth 8 x $6M, and Coronato is 7 x $6.5, then it's safe to say 7 or 8 years for $5.5M to $6M would be a fair value long term deal for Zary.

And I'd be fine with the Flames making that bet.

Time lost is a negative to Zary. It probably makes it so he doesn’t get the same AAV as Coronato, assuming the same term was signed. I think Stankoven is a great comparable for Zary in terms of point production.

Either you take the 8 year, 6m AAV deal or bet on yourself and get a Perfetti-like bridge (3.25m x 2).

I disagree with your assessment of Zary/Stankoven, but I can see that we are at an impasse. The AHL numbers at the least show the ability to perform against men, so invalidate some of the size argument.

I actually agree with your last comment, but probably in the exact opposite sense as you. I think we are pumping too much hope into Coronato right now. I hope that he steps up in a big way this season.

I think size is next to negligible when it comes to Zary's value. It's not like he uses whatever size he has.

I would wager it's near unanimous across the league that Stankoven is the better/more coveted player.
