If Victoria is good to go tomorrow night in Montreal and wins the match, she'll become the highest ranked Canadian woman on tour (just edging out Leylah).

Technically Zverev Elimination Day only happens in majors but it's still nice to see him lose.

Osaka opens at a slight favourite but its very marginal. Crowd is going to be behind Mboko all the way I think it's going to be a terrific match!
I believe her when she said in her post match interview the wrist didn't bother her as much as the match went on as thats when she played her best tennis.

Montreal crowds are always amazing. Push Mboko across the line yesterday and will be a big factor tonight.

Changing of the guard on both sides with Diallo also effectively now the top canadian male.
Did not think Mboko had it last night, but like some of the greats, she finds a way to win. A few of those points I found myself saying that is some Nadal $!%$ right there. Special player.

I'm going to miss tonight's final due to family commitments (these 12 day tournaments that have a Thursday final need to go), so I'll just wish Victoria all the best versus Naomi Osaka. Great to see Osaka playing good tennis as well, she should have never gone back to the French rat.

I will say that Leylah looked a lot like the 2021 US Open Leylah winning the DC tourney two weeks ago. The fight was back in her game and when her serve isn't giving away free points, the rest of her game seems to fall into place. She probably would have bypassed Montreal if it wasn't her home tournament (and I don't think Victoria will be playing Cincinnati regardless of the outcome tonight).

It will be interesting. I think if Victoria wins, she's definitely out of Cincinnati. But if she loses, she's ranked 34 just outside the seeds in New York. Qinwen Zhang is out so that bumps her to 33. She would have to try Cincinnati to move up or hold her ranking.

Well she's never played Cincinnati, right? So nothing to defend there, shouldn't be a big issue to snag a few extra points, and if you make a deep run, great, if you don't you still have plenty of time to rest before the 24th.

Mboko up a double break 5-2 in the 2nd set trying to push this to a 3rd set. Looking very strong after dropping the first set 6-2.

What a turn of events. Osaka looks miserable out there. Onto a 3rd set.
