I also like the idea of making the thread private in order to eliminate the complainers that keep derailing the conversation. Call it a code of conduct. People could quickly lose access to the private section if they cannot align and allow everyone else to simply enjoy the conversation (even in their disagreements).

I'd subscribe to a private thread for sure that features Royle/Sec. Would also be a good way to keep the CP whiners out of that thread and have them stay here, where they can whine and complain about our insiders until they're unconscious on the floor.

This is probably a Bingo question, but can you set up a thread that is locked for general viewing and can only be accessed if you are approved? Perhaps that isn't possible.

You can create a sub forum that’s only visible to select accounts with access

You guys are silly, nothing like that is happening, lol. The insiders are posting their stuff publicly on a Flames forum that has hundreds of active posters and thousands of lurkers, including most of the local media. Expecting that info to never be talked about or reposted outside this forum is weird.

If you're willing to let thousands of Flames fans, including media view it here, then you're clearly okay with any risk associated with yourself or your source.

However, setting up locked threads to me sounds like the death of the site.

Also, FBI, that seems like a "the call is coming from inside the house" situation you've outlined, to me!

I don't necessarily like the idea of separating the board, but I have seen other forums have a separate sub-forum that is locked based on user level (not age of account). So it encourages positive participation on the board as a whole to increase your level and unlock access. And those sub-forums still remain a minor subsect and dont become dominant as most action is still in the main board as thats where the most people are so you get more interaction. Something like #1 Goaltender or Franchise Center and above.

From what I’ve seen it is usually just the quick death of those threads/groups.

Someone created a social group because they were mad people in the off topic thread were being skeptics about alien sightings and wanted an exclusive place where everyone believed into aliens. Looks like it made it a whole 14 posts.

Generally I don’t think people want to navigate anywhere special or jump through any hoops.

Not difficult to advance search by our insiders. Would keep same rather than separate private group.

Several other posters have offered occasional "insider" info as well to put here. I once randomly met a high level Flames brass at a dinner party and posted what I could here as example.

Favourite thread especially in "silly season" of summer.

I have no trouble filtering out the personal attacks and nasty posts. Hope our awesome insiders can do the same. They are much appreciated by most of us here.
