I'm planning on finally going overseas next year but I'm not sure where.
Good to hear

BTW, Metallica's 2026 tour is in Athens, Frankfurt, Zurich, Berlin, Bologna, Budapest, Dublin, Glasgow, Cardiff, and London.

I myself might think about a couple of nights in Paris and take the 4 hour train to Zurich to check them out for my birthday.

If it was a 'once in a lifetime' kind of thing, I think Metallica in Berlin would be hard to top.

Yeah, I thought about planning a trip around one of their European stops but I think it would wear me out too much and the rest of the trip would be a struggle.

I thought about Scotland because I'm a McLeod and Normandy because of WW2 but those are trips I'd like to do with my dad. He won't be able to travel for probably atleast a couple of years because he has to look after my mom who has Alzheimer's.

Vegas has always been a guilty pleasure, a cheeseball destination only worthwhile when it was cheap. The only thing that might bring me back is a hockey game, but that's only after the orange clown is dead and in the ground.

Yeah. I'll definitely go when the new baseball stadium is built, it looks amazing. Trump's term will be over by then, so hopefully he's gone.

He’ll be dead by then. With luck if won’t be president Vance.

Seems to be a place for people who also enjoy cruise ships.

Not even the Pinball Hall of Fame could get me back right now.

I was there a couple of months ago and it seemed very busy. I have never been into Vegas for the cheap food, IMO you can find that anywhere. The collection of great restaurants in such a concentrated space is what is unique IMO. Expensive for sure, but some are very, very good.

What is annoying is the relentless increase in table limits. You pretty much have to sit at the $100 tables to get a fair game of blackjack on the strip.

I don’t know what to say about fellow Canadians visiting places like Vegas at this time.

But decline in tourism along with price increases is a pretty bad combo.

I noticed that last year in states like North and South Dakota. Everything in the U.S. had become quite expensive before the exchange rate. Even at Costco a lot of things are close to the same price as what we pay here.

That kind of surprises me, maybe it is state by state. Just looked at the grocery store app for HEB, a Texas grocery store chain. To use the previous example, Doritos are $4.48 for 9.25 oz and $5.94 for 14.5 oz. How does that compare to Calgary?

I am sure that factoring in exchange rate makes things more expensive in US for sure. I see it's still around 73 cents.

8oz here is $4.50 regular price at Superstore and it is usually on sale for $3.50 ($3 on a good sales week.)
