Ultimately if the Flames can somehow acquire McTavish this summer I think they are a playoff team. Kadri-McTavish-Frost-Backlund is a pretty strong C group and with Wolf I am feeling good about a spot. The blueline is a big question mark

Why not? He probably wants to get back on the scooter that threw him!

Why we keep trading Zary in proposals. Can't we still have some nice things? Throw the 1st rndr instead.

On D there will be at least 2 graduates including Parekh IMO.
Parekh, Brz and Kuznetsov would be the top candidates.
And they'll be a lot better than the waiver wire depth we were dressing last year.

My preference is to not only keep Zary but also keep the 1st round picks and the quality prospects that are looking really good. Would prefer to keep it simple and focus on trading vets. Problem is that likely keeps the flames out of the running on McTavish.

Bean Pachal Brz Kuzy can all cycle through on the bottom pair to start.
Hanley Weegar
Bahl Parekh
Start together assuming Ras is gone

You do know fan created fantasy trades on message boards aren't something that affects real life right?

Speaking of fantasy, found this on Twitter.
Huberdeau to Habs to Anderson, Xhekaj, Owen Beck and 2nd rounder.
Let’s hope heavy has a connection to Kent Hughes.

They provide confirmation data on the mental decline of the general population.

I know that article is pure fantasy, but it makes me wonder if Huberdeau would even waive his NMC for Montreal in a hypothetical trade at this point. I know historically theres been some Quebecois players over the years that have stayed clear due to the pressures of being a french player in that market. Given how his career has gone over the past few seasons I can totally see his preference being here and honing his new-found play style even if the team isn't competitive at the moment.

I’ve wondered if the guy who signed Huby to that deal might be the guy to take him back.
Brad has to be under the gun to replace Marners production. Huby could set up Matthews something fierce and get back to 100 pts pretty quickly.
With no one above him to keep him in check and given his penchant to do crazy things, have to wonder if there’s any chance to make something like this happen. Huby would hate the Toronto media/scrutiny and with his nmc, might be a dead duck from that perspective alone.

Speculation is that the Leafs don’t want to commit long term cap space to anyone in anticipation that McDavid could be a free agent next season.

Huby has improved over his time here and actually become a more polished and reliable 2-way player than he ever was in Florida.
With retention it's not a bad acquisition if you have the talent to pair him with already on your roster.
