I like the creative ways they find to keep bringing Kirk in even though, canonically, he and Pike never met before the handover ceremony when Kirk replaced Pike as captain of the Enterprise.

Kirk was always the notorious 'hound dog' but he usually stuck to Aliens, it seems that the reason for this is that Spock is really romantically making his way through the crew at an alarming rate at the moment.

It wasn't an announcement, it was a trial balloon to say they had an idea for a show. Kind of like Star Trek:Legacy after Picard ended

There's a post on r/####tydaystrom that we need to discuss imo lol:

Is the universe a better place with Deanna Troi dead?

So there's the little known episode of TNG called "All Good Things". You probably haven't heard of it because you're not a serious Trekkie like me. But in it, Captain Picard travels to a future where Deanna Troi is dead. After his time travel shenanigans, Picard returns to the present (still the future for you and I) and tells Troi about his future. She learns that her death causes Worf to become a real whiny bitch, which turns her off so much that she immediately leaves him for Riker, thus creating a new timeline.

But now that the timeline has been changed, let us consider what we've lost. I present to you the original, true timeline.

* Worf and Troi stay together. Shacking up with the head of security causes Troi to be more suspicious of people, so she starts to use her empathic abilities a bit more diligently. At some point, this Clockwork Orange looking guy comes aboard the Enterprise. Troi is immediately suspicious of him because he claims to be British but he has the same accent as the clearly French Picard. She telepaths his brain, realized he was in that ####ty movie 'Tank Girl' and alerts Worf, who promptly arrests him. Thus, the film 'Generations' never happens and the Enterprise D is safe.
* Since the D never exploded, Worf does not go to DS9. When the Klingons start causing trouble, Ben "Q-Puncher" Sisko is forced to take matters into his own hands, so he whips it out to humiliate the Klingons by proving that the greatest dick in Star Fleet is greater than Gowron's two dicks combined. The Klingons have lost honor, so they do not invade Cardassia and instead decide to go invade the Romulans, figuring Sisko doesn't give a single #### about some knife-eared dark elves. Sure enough, turns out Sisko hates elves because one talked #### about him one time.
* Cardassia is never invaded, and so Gul Dukat does not align with the Dominion. He still deserves a statue on Bajor.
* With the Dominion war going on, one day Riker's like, "Hey, you know how we have these small phasers on the Enterprise that don't do much? Well, what if we just made a super big phase instead?" Everyone's shocked, and so they built a giant phaser and kit bash it to the bottom of the D. Turns out a giant phaser is way better than a normal phaser and it can easily blow up other ships with just one shot. Star Fleet starts making big phasers for all their ships. The Dominion war ends rather quickly when Star Fleet basically just glues like 50 giant phasers onto DS9 and has it blast the #### out of anything that comes through the wormhole.
* Somehow, across the universe, these changes affect one Tom Paris. He has been devising a warp 10 vessel, but then he's like "#### it, we're going for warp 13!" He's successful, and the warp 13 engine is developed. Voyager returns home in like a month, but not before Janeway still somehow manages to find ways to get around 20 crew members killed.
* Hippies on Earth are super angry that space orcs are being super mean to dark elves. They petition for Star Fleet to stop space trade with the Klingons, and so the treaty ends. The second that happens, the Federation starts using cloaking devices except their's are better because they can also pass through stuff.
* Troi and Worf decide to have sex. She dies.
* Worf is sad, turns into an emo bitch, and wanders away to go sulk on Kronos.
* Data lives. There are no dark elves to #### #### up, so the Mars full of Datas never go bad. He is made the president of university or whatever.
* Wesley dies... Probably.

So we're left with a future where the Federation has super big one-shot phasers, Warp 13, no dark elves ####ing #### up, a dead Wesley, a still alive Data, Sisko's out filling up the universe with more Siskos, and Gul Dukat has a statue. Also, way later in the future, Data stops The Burn (probably) and so when the Discovery arrives in the future, the Mega Federation immediately just blows it up because they're not having any of that ####.

Thus, the future was way better with Troi dead.

tl;dr - Drugs are bad. Don't do drugs.

I think hes right. Troi should have died. Troi lives = riker optimizes for dad mode instead of surly pent up war guy. Universe gets boned.

That was hilarious.

Overall I enjoyed this holodeck shenanigans episode. The lampooning of Shatner was delightful and deserved, the Spock/La'An romance is something I can get behind as I enjoy not knowing why it won't last.

However nothing will ever top Picard machine gunning borg with light bullets while dressed as a 1930 gangster in terms of holodeck shenanigans.

i don't care what anyone thinks. The first 10 mins of that episode was absolute gold. The absolute overdramatic Kirk impressionism had me literally laughing out loud.

The holodeck exploration was, imo, TNG v2. seen it done it but glad to see it again.

outtakes were just comical. had me snickering for sure.

7.5/10

cheers!
