Son and I coming back to Calgary to do a golf trip in August. We have lined up:
GlenEagles
Banff Springs
SilverTip
Stewart Creek
Kidd
Lorette
Any changes you would make? I've played all these courses several times, except for GlenEagles which will be my first time. This will be his first time for all of them. Staying in Kananaskis.
If I were to replace Gleneagles with something it would probably be Redwood Meadows, which has the benefit of being in the direction you're going anyway towards Kananaskis. but that may just be personal preference.

I'd dump GlenEagles personally, it's best days are behind it now that it's a PlayGolf Calgary course. And I really enjoy Stewart Creek as a course, but goddamn is it too much money. $300 a round weekend is nuts, you can play 36 at Kananaskis for the same price. I'll throw out Redwood too since I played it earlier this year and it was in excellent shape.

Wintergreen is a good course with excellent facilities, it just feels like a bit of a slog to me by the time I get to the end for whatever reason. And it has gotten pretty expensive (but what else is new).

Wintergreen is actually priced relatively fair, but it's also another course whose best days are behind it. Last year when I played it was not in very good shape.

Yeah, I'd dump GlenEagles, maybe Mickelson National instead? I also personally think SilverTip is overrated, Stewart is much better, and if you could get on to Canmore, I would do that instead.
If you are looking for a fun track closer to the city, either on your way in or out of town, think about Speargrass. It's not a good fit with your itinerary, but I think it's a fun course, and quite scorable. The mix of 6 par 3s, 6 4's and 6 5's is unique. There's nothing I dislike more than a stretch of 6 or 7 par 4 holes in a row.

Speaking of overrated, Mickelson is definitely overrated. It's long, which I guess some people love, but otherwise, it's basically the bald prairie and constantly windy.

Also stupidly uneven. Almost every time I hit a fairway at Mickelson I did not have a flat lie on my next shot.
There have been a bunch of youtube golf videos uploaded from Mickelson rounds lately. It looks very windy and very patchy.

Could also slot in Livingston for a quick nine practice round and give my cousins some business.
