Looking at everything through this lens is mind-numbingly ridiculous.

The turn of phrase that someone has 'good genes' has long been used in every other context for people of pretty much any hair, eye, and skin colour so long as that person ticks the following boxes:
1. Be attractive.
2. Don't be unattractive.
3. Be athletic. (Optional, admittedly.)

If it was Amy Schumer instead of Sydney Sweeney, the chronically-online of the right would be whining about American Eagle using a fat girl to sell jeans and the chronically-online of the left would be clapping like trained seals for body positivity.
