Funny enough, saw on the ticker of a TV as I walked by it earlier today that Canada apparently is and has been continuing to allow arms shipments to Israel to aid in their murdering spree of women and children in Gaza.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/arm...nada-1.7596091

Quote:
The government of Canada is adamant — with certain, shifting caveats — that it has not allowed arms shipments to Israel since January 2024, and yet Israeli import data and publicly available shipping records appear to contradict that claim.

The data was uncovered by a group of researchers from four NGOs: World Beyond War, the Palestinian Youth Movement, Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East and Independent Jewish Voices.

They found entries in the database of the Israel Tax Authority that show Canadian goods continuing to enter Israel, described by the Israeli government as military weapon parts and ammunition.
Quote:
Israel and Canada, like most countries, use the same Harmonized System (HS) customs codes to describe goods.

An entry for April 2025 shows the importation from Canada into Israel of 175,000 units of the HS category defined by Canada as "Bombs, grenades, torpedoes, mines, missiles and similar munitions of war and parts thereof; cartridges and other ammunition and projectiles and parts thereof, including shot and cartridge wads."

The "it's not a genocide" crowd sure has gotten quiet. Hopefully reflecting on what led them to ignore reality for so long.

They'll still say it's not a genocide. They rationalize it by saying the operation is simply necessary for the future security of Israel.

With the West supporting the eradication of Palestinians from Gaza, Israel has the green light to simply wipe them off the face of the earth and justify it saying attacks on Israel have come from Gaza.

If CP is around in 25 years, we'll be talking about this exact same eradication in the West Bank.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they moved on West Bank much, much sooner than that.

Common Mark Carney W

Quote:
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada will recognize Palestine as a state in September at the United Nations General Assembly, joining the United Kingdom and France.

“The deepening suffering of civilians leaves no room for delay in co-ordinated international action to support peace, security, and the dignity of all human life," Carney said in a statement Wednesday.

Some will ask rhetorically what recognizing Palestine as a state actually does, which is fair, but technically, it would allow them to finally pursue legal action against Israel for violations to their territory based on it being an official state. And yes, Israel, like the US, would just brush any decisions by the ICJ off as it being Hamas or some sort of corrupt institution (perhaps even threaten to invade the Hague, like the US did), and then ignore, but the more Israel and the US do these things and show their hypocracy, when at other times they call for the same institution to action against nations that aren't in their circle, the more the rest of the civilized world will realize that these two countries are not out there for fairness among all nations. This outcome is a good thing.

I don't think the NP agrees with your assesment. Shocking, I know.

It's insidious, but I guess it works well enough for them to profit from.

Given the comments, they know their readers well.

I draw the line at crossing into the NP comments section. My faith in humanity is already low enough.

I don't read the NP. It's owned by US private equity that is a major donor to Donald trump and the editorial slant reflects that. It's actually deeply offensive that we allowed the sale of major media institution to the US to effectively run propaganda to Canadians.

I see the print version of the Herald/NP almost every day and I have never, not once, seen an image of a suffering Palestinian or close-up of a town reduced to rubble. Just images of resolute-looking IDF soldiers and the odd hostage protest. Stories about the region read like they were written by the Israeli government. It was s###e when Conrad Black founded it and it’s s###e now. It’s so embarrassing that it’s the “paper of record” around here.

Video covering the investigation around the deliberate targeting and shooting of children in Gaza by Israel. Includes a clip of the IDF instructing the soldiers to shoot anyone they see.
