Hard not to like this
Fastest player on the team
Set a franchise record for hits in a season
Can be moved around to spark any line that's struggling
Shown leadership qualities taking Honzek under his wing. As veteran guys get moved out, I think he will gradually step into that role
Would like to see more of that effective forechecking he showed in his rookie season. Hope he can maintain 20-25 assists and bumps up the goals to 10-15

Great news. A little surprised he didn't wait it out until the end of the season to see if he could have a big year and extract a little more, but I guess when you have an injury history it's probable prudent to hedge your bets.

I never understood those around here that believed he was viewed an expendable piece or the odd man out for Conroy.

How does this contract change that?
I still see him as a very tradeable asset if you can upgrade elsewhere and if a team loves him. Including because I think the long-term concussion concerns are valid.
But this contract changes none of that. Thankfully it still makes him a very valuable potential trade chip.
But I'm also totally fine with him staying here because he does provide some unique elements.
But the contract doesn't mean there aren't still concussion concerns.
