I wonder how much of this behaviour is driven by watching reality TV and seeing how those people act and mimicking it their own lives.

I loathe reality TV.

This was a major part of the situation with my ex. I didn't care about any of it, she lived and breathed it.

Holy hell, it is the worst way to live, and that is doubly-so if you're just the schmuck of a spouse who has to deal with it in their home life.

i, like you, do not enjoy being 'privy' to gossip, mostly becuz i just don't care. i've got enough stuff going on that i don't have the time or energy to get dragged into that crap!
A female friend of mine tried to drag me into a personal feud she had with her other friend. I simply said I don't want to hear about it and I certainly don't want you to put me in position where I have to take sides. I finished by saying I don't understand why the 2 of you feel the need to carry on this feud. Sit and settle it! End of discussion!

Never watch it, and could not be with a partner that does.

I just want to chime in to say how much I appreciate that while this conversation is about the downsides of gossip and drama and how disinterested people are in it, it is essentially just living entirely on gossip and drama told by those same people.

“I hate gossip! And you’ll never guess what this person did…”

Truly delightful, thank you

That's a sad if not horrifying thought.

Reality TV or any form of entertainment really.

TV shows, movies, are all just drama and gossip where the viewer is witnessing it.

In reality gossip is nothing new. It was/is a social development tool - building trust and forming relationships are pretty key in gossip. One could argue most of are cultural myths are just gossip.

Deep south Deerfoot paving.

They just gave up and went home or what? They made like 70% progress within 3-4 days and then just stopped?

No sign of the machinery/equipment anywhere and now I noticed the pylons have been rounded up too.

Bought a bubble tea last night from one of my favorite places, Thai Tai. The new straws they give you are so ridiculously thin that they completely collapse when you're trying to drink. It was comically useless and quite infuriating.

I'm all for reducing plastic waste but when the product doesn't function at all like expected they it time to go back to the old design. Kinda like those really cheap and thin bottles of water that collapse and spill water when you unscrew the cap.

The lack of respect you are displaying to turtle nose holes is noted.

Removing elastic waistbands from trousers to protect narwhals is next and you better be on board.

Those anti-bird shiny fans on corners of buildings are annoying as hell. They reflect the sunlight into drivers eyes. I think they should be banned. There is that one storage building near Bow and Macleod that has a bunch of them and they are irritating right across the crowchild bridge.

"These $1700 Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses have a special coating developed in conjunction with the World Wildlife Fund to prevent you from being blinded!!!" - Knut, probably.

Im not sure whats easier to deal with, having one bad thing happen occasionally or having long spells of normalcy followed by a month of getting nailed with bad luck / poor decisions. I’m in a pretty ####ty 4 weeks here, a family member didn’t respond to a promising treatment, I broke a bone, I got in a minor fender bender and had some unexpected house repairs come up.

If life could hold its ****ing horses for a week or two that would be great. ####.

Rabbits. Pretty much every time I look in my back yard there is at least one and often two or more rabbits, munching away in my garden. Not even native rabbits/hares, they are domestic rabbits. When I block off their routes into the yard they just dig new ones, and don't seem that bothered by rabbit repellent spray.
