I have to admit I was outside at an event while it rained today and it was full of contrarian weirdos. A shocking amount of contrarian weirdos. Of course this was my first time outside so it was frightening.

Spent 8 hours outside yesterday. Had a great time watching Cake close out the fest.
But I’m pretty sure everyone would have enjoyed it even more if it hadn’t been pissing rain on their heads. And I’m sure the Folk Fest is disappointed in the shortfall in ticket and alcohol sales that accompany ####ty weather.
Hilarious that people are still pretending otherwise. And that someone who regards himself as of the left sees things strictly through the lens of his personal gratification, with zero regards for cancellations of public events and shortfalls from non-profits.

All I got to say is this is so typical Calgary. Last summer with the water main break it's bone dry and this year it's way more rain than average when we don't need it.

It’s not normal but I can’t do anything about it so I live with it.
I spent all weekend camping, we slept in a tent, didn’t get soaked.
It’s rain, you are not made of sugar, you will survive.

Nobody is. People have suggested that you can still enjoy outdoor activities in the rain and that they prefer it over skipping the activity entirely and staying indoors. A totally uncontroversial opinion.
Getting this offended and starting to go on about “the left” because of the weather is unhinged. It’s rain, Cliff, you’re not going to die.

The rain in my community is sweeping to the left...oh what does it all mean? Is Mother Nature a commie??
I'm just sitting on the porch with a coffee and enjoying the show.

Rain is leftist. Wind is alt-right. Light snow and 5 degrees c is centrist but a blizzard is libertarian.

You’re projecting your narcissism again. I’ve never suggested I’ll be staying indoors. I have been and will continue to do stuff outside (I probably spent more time outside this weekend than 95 per cent of Calgarians). But the weather this summer has been bad for the city at large. The community. People besides you.
The final tally of this summer’s unusually high rains in Calgary will count hundreds of events cancelled, low attendance, and millions in shortfalls. That makes it objectively ####ty, regardless of your snark and contempt for those who stay home.
I suppose that's the difference between you and me. I can have fun standing in the rain at a music festival without regarding the people who stayed home with contempt. And I can get make the best of it while recognizing it's still a bad outcome for organizers.

Canadian soldiers didn't hunker down in muddy trenches in two world wars so we'd be afraid of the rain.

I feel left out. How can I confidently say where 95% of Calgarians were this weekend without 182% just making things up?
