Happy Gilmore 2 was way better than I expected.

The original is one of my favorite comedies if all time, so the nostalgia worked perfectly for me. I was the target audience and I'm not ashamed of that in the slightest.

Was nonstop fan service and was exactly what I wanted.

Also the golfers were awesome. Never though Scottie Scheffler could be an actor, lol

I'm curious as to what people were expecting? Its a Sandler film. On Netflix. A sequel 30 years later.

Then look at Sandler's recent body of work.

What kind of film were audiences anticipating? Sandler has even straight-up said that he's just pumping out content to satisfy his Netflix contract.

It was never going to be great.

And John daly drinks hand sanitizer only by the end. Felt like a stand up comedy show with 57 comedians with some plot surrounding it.

It’s got to be one the highest earning casts in history.

There has to be at least 15 people that also cameod I need to research for. Did see those horse face girls are his real life daughters.

Kinda feel like the jersey he wears to the mini-golf course was a tribute to Johnny.

And did anyone catch Sean Avery and Chris Chelios?

Scottie, John Daly and Will Zalatoris battling it out for the best golfer cameos. Making Zalatoris the grown up caddie from the first movie was a stroke of genius.

I mean yeah it's a dumb callback fan service movie that's entirely about the cameos. Why anyone would expect anything else is beyond me.

Only thing I don't get is Bryson being on the "good guys" team for what is essentially a full on hit job on Liv.

I enjoyed the call-backs and cameos from the first movie, the golfers didn't really register with me as I don't follow the sport but I appreciate they got so many to play and poke fun at themselves. But I wish some of the other comedic roles were filled by actual comedians or at least actors.

Guy Fieri, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Travis Kelce, Post Malone, etc.

I think if Bad Bunny was recast by someone funny or someone who could act it would have dramatically improved things... but oh well it was always going to be what it was. Just felt like a lost opportunity of sorts as the original is a classic and this could have been a good legacy sequel if were fine-tuned a bit more IMO.

This is pretty bang on. I wasnt expecting much other than some cheap laughs and knowing that Sandler genuinely couldnt care less? This is about as good as it was going to get.

That's the one I wondered about the most, also probably because I don't know who that is. I was happy with 90% of the cameos but that role was important enough that I think it should have gone to an actual comedic actor. Like, imagine Sacha Baron Cohen as a bumbling caddy. Now that's a movie! The cameos did do a lot of the heavy lifting, no doubt.

Like if you didn't know who Scottie Scheffler is and what happened to him near the end just happened to some random guy, that's not nearly as funny if you don't know the backstory

But I still loved it

I text random people I haven’t talked to in years. Play Ja Ja Ding Dong.

I didn’t care for the villain guy. Liv guy.

I liked the cucumber booze thing.

Villain and Caddy were 2 huge misses that prob could have taken it to a very good comedy level

The villian seemed lazy . You needed a shooter”esque” villian for this film

Jurassic Park - Rebirth was a total bust. Nothing earth shattering in it worth talking about. Just a plot a grade school kid could come up with. Too simple and and boring. Worst of the Jurassic Park movies.

I don't find that true at all.

His recent work on Netflix were Hustle and Uncut Gems and both were incredible.

Hustle 2022: 94% critic RT and 3.6/5 letterboxd
Uncut Gems 2019: 91% critic RT and 3.9/5 Letterboxd

He is more than capable of being in great movies.

If you're talking specifically about Happy Madison productions, yeah they've pretty garbage with the exception of Happy Gilmore (original) and Billy Madison.

As a fan of the original where I would put it in my top 20 comedy films of all time I was hoping for something that didn't rely on every single joke from the original to try to make it funny.
