This team could have melted down when Guerrero was thrown out at 3rd or when Springer was thrown out at home but they have been so resilient this season. It’s been great to see!

On the Springer out, I think the Catcher was also surprised that the center fielder through home which is why he didn’t set up to touch the plate. The play at 2nd was a lot closer to him and would have also been a force so coming home was a bit of a risky choice.

Bichette clutch sure but only because Lopervido got on and 2nd and 3rd prevented that being a routine ground out.

One other thing, Springer may have noticed that the catcher wasn’t set up like a first baseman on the force (combined with Skubal pointing to throw to second) and took that as a sign that they weren’t coming home. Still a big mistake. Glad he owned it.

The team has really been picking each other up which creates a real sense of camaraderie and resilience.

The 13 pitch at bat where Bichette fouled off 9 pitches and walked really got to Skubal and got him out of the game an inning early.

They're less worried about catching the Jays and more concerned about keeping a WC spot.

Still expecting Jays to pull this out in the 9th. I think I've become spoiled over the last two months...
