				 Calgarypuck Prospect Ranking 2025 - Round 16

Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!
As per usual ...

1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to mid to late August
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Kuznetsov will likely be on 3rd pairing D this year, hope he sticks.

Crazy having about 12 guys that still interest me in round 16.
I went Kuznetsov ... they seem to be grooming him to be a third pair mainstay, he has that one way contract in year two.

But there are so many names.

The Taco summary of King has me itching, but he may be a couple of rounds away for me. I ask myself where I'd have him if we didn't have the internal look and it would be further than that (PTSD from college signings).Intrigued though with the Taco summary and guessing he possibly should have already gone.

Yes usually around this time I tap out on the voting as I no longer really know anything about the players and am picking based on name, or draft position. This year there are still quite a few intriguing guys who have a chance to play as we approach 20

At this point I’m going with older players with a longer playing record and maybe a little more clarity that they will play in the NHL - Sam Morton I think he can be like Carolina’s Eric Robinson. Undrafted, signed out of college after senior year, now played hundreds of NHL games. I think that is Sam Morton.
Carter King is another. Kuznetzov and Solovyov as well, without the college UFA status, but pro track record.

So many choices, and different types of choices, at this point.
Went with Kuznetsov then Solovyov, but after that, I think it's King. We need a good 4th line C and maybe we have one.

Too early for the goalies for me - haven't seen them play, and goalies are unpredictable - show me some quality starts in the AHL, then I'll get interested.

Trevor Hoskin. Has all of the tools to be a solid middle 6 C.
I'm interested to see how he does in a more competitive Merrimack program.

I was between a bunch of the players left
Kuznetsov, Solovyov, Sergeev, Morton and King. Went with the guy who the team is showing confidence in by giving a 1 way in the second year of his contract.

Will probably vote Solovyov or Morton next round.
I do find King quite tempting to vote for, but I do wonder if it is the bias creeping in of having Tacoman here

2 years younger and appears to be in a similar spot in their development. Sure Solovyov has more NHL games, but they are projected to be in a similar role one day. Give me the younger player with more runway everyday of the week.

Went with Poirier. His upside is much more interesting to me than Solovyov and Kusnetsov.

Interesting to see Stromgren at 15 and falling 6 spots.
Really speaks to the added prospects in the last two drafts.

I think Poirier, Grushnikov and Lipinski are going to have big falls as well.

Has Wolf soured everyone on the other goalie prospects? "how good can they be if they weren't MVP of their league the last 4 years?"I think Sergeev has a decent shot to be part of a solid future tandem.

Yup. And it isn't on them so much as it is simply an injection of more quality prospects

I am not sour on any of them personally, I simply have no useful point of reference yet. I didn't start ranking Wolf highly until he started lighting up the AHL. When one of these guys do that, I'll get excited about them too.

That and there's always some hype around Russian goalie prospects and then they seem to slip.

I remember when Daniil Chechelev was the quiet theft of the 2020 draft.

Sergeev I'll grant is different as he came over and lit up the USHL and Penn
