Why sell so low on him? He's worth much more than that.

I just took that GIF as Ioan Gruffudd upset that he didn't get called back to be Mr. Fantastic again

Well obviously he's not. I mean take what you can get before training camp starts.

Zary reminds me alot of a young Backs. Bad luck early in his career but then put together a solid career . Maybe never popped the big # but was a solid player nonetheless.

Zarys ceiling to me has to be higher as his GAF meter is pretty high based on the eye test but Craig has to be careful here too.

Zary needs to dial down his expectations from the flames simply because now more than ever I think there's so much potential depth / competition/ meritocracy going on that Craig knows he has to be optimistically cautious.

I'd be. Hes exciting and I get it. Many wrote off Coronato thinking he couldn't have possibly become what he is but I think people will be amazed continually with how much more he has to offer.....and not just him.

Go Flames

Because we all know what offers have been made and what Conroy is asking for, right?

If that's all that's offered at this time, CC will wait until the TDL.

This is also my impression. Which is kind of the scenario you want as a fan really. Both sides willing to put a bet on the player.

a guy named jarome iginla once struggled in year 2 in the nhl. its not uncommon. give zary some time. I think it might be best for short bridge for both parties

Iginla was 20. Zary will be 24 before the next season starts. You don't think there is a difference?

I never said age wasn't a difference. I guess you assume ppl are all mature at same age... since we are making assumptions on people

My point there is bumps in development on a regular basis. Learning curves are different. Obviously to expect zary is jarome is unrealistic and unfair.

Either way we cannot afford to lose Zary right now. We do not have a lot of young talented forwards, and Zary is the closest young forward to being a game changer when he is on his game. You could also argue Coronato.

This is also why we need to hopefully pick high in the draft the next couple years and start drafting more forward prospects.

Has Zary struggled?

I feel like he's looked great his entire time. Constantly creative and dangerous.

He's just been injury prone, but I don't think his play has struggled at all.

And even those injuries weren’t injuries that indicate he's made of glass. They were dangerous situations where it's surprising he didn't get more hurt. It’s not like he stepped wrong and tore an ACL.

Which has already started to happen.
In the last 2 drafts, they've had 7 picks in the first 2 rounds, and they've selected a forward with 6 of them.
That could just be the way things fell, but I do think there is some preference for forwards with the higher picks.

I think more people should take this advice. I've been pretty vocal that the Flames are in no rush. I'm not expecting anything just like I said like 2-3 weeks ago. Hard to put a gauge on it when we're not in season. Lot of people are away for the summer.

There is no pressure point on a move right now, which is why things rarely happen after July 1st.

Teams make moves at the drafts because draft picks are usually involved or they are making plans for July 1.

Trades will happen around July 1 if teams miss out on a UFA or are trying to clear space to add a UFA.

But then once those two pinch points occur there is nothing that really creates pressure for a move from either side.

That won't be until mid-August where teams maybe want to make a move so a guy can get to the city, get settled, and be ready to join the new team from Day 1 of training camp.
