voting in some ways a little reluctantly for Stromgren as there is actually a pretty tight needle to thread here

I think there are safer Jooris award picks (Morton, Solovyov, Kuznetzov, maybe even Kerins) and guys with longer runways (Stockeslius, Misa) whereas things pretty much have to happen for WS this year, and yet he hasn't been given (or earned? ) a cup of coffee even thus far

yet I think he's shown year over year growth and I think there is still a reality where he carves out 400 games as a fixture on the Flames 3rd line. would like to see him get some Backlund/Coleman time this year

(and still trying to figure out where to slot the next goalie. goalies are tough anyhow and we may well have at least a 1a for a while but there are 2 I like)

Misa for me. Speed to burn, high end offense at the center position. Solid two way game.

Yeah I went Stromgren as well.

His path in the lats three years reminds me of guys that have made it, and I have a feeling he plays a lot of games for the Flames.

Struggled with passing up on Misa, who is limited in height but on a higher roster trajectory.

I can’t skip over Kerins from here on out until he is picked. Kid scores in every league he jumps to.

Kerins feels about right at this point. Might not have star potential but the likelihood of being an NHLer is there.

With Stockselius trending now, thought it was a good time to revisit where the other 2nd rounders debuted on the list over the years

7 Morin 2023
7 Stromgren 2021
8 Basha 2024
10 Kylington 2015
11 Kuznetzov 2020
13 Andersson 2015
14 Parsons 2016
14 Ronni 2022
15 Battaglia 2024
18 Dube 2016
18 Smith 2014
19 McDonald 2014

so generally speaking this is the range where 2nd rounders make their debut. kudos to the voters for recognizing off the hop that Smith and McDonald were NG

Went Misa this round- he would’ve been top-5 in OHL scoring if the coach used him properly this season, and led the Steelheads in playoff scoring (by 3 points) with 12 points in 6 games- on a team that includes Martone and Rehkopf.

Speed to burn, drives play through transition, plays a cerebral two-way game. If he were a few inches taller, and more physical, he might be top-5 on this list.

2025 OHL Playoffs
Misa 1 - 4GP - 2G 1A 3P

Misa 2 - 6GP - 2G 10A 12P

Misa 1 just went 2nd overall. Misa 2 should be our 12th ranked prospect, possibly higher.

Went with Kerins. I guess I just don't know as much about Misa as some of our other prospects. But it's great to see another guy in there people are high on.

I find Misa as an interesting one to ponder. A recent 5th rounder (although felt like a steal at the time, it does provide a sense of what even the Flames thought of him) and his offensive numbers were essentially the same year over year (regular season) , he was 16th in the poll last year

Now he does bring attributes we need, his playoffs were strong, he was probably misused a bit last year and going to NCAA is a good call for him, so there are some strong arrows here

Kerins and Misa are probably the most intriguing prospects at this point, so I voted for Kerins because I think he's a bit closer to the NHL than Misa is.

HM: Stockselius, I just don't know what he is, and the Swedes that CGY drafts tend to have a bit of a dip in play before establishing themselves, so he's a wait and see for me.

HM2: Sergeev, I don't usually vote for goalies because of how volatile the position is, but he had a hell of a season.

I am on Sergeev until he's gone. Massive last few years for him and his trajectory looks like he will play in the NHL and has starter potential.

I personally think he's going to get the opportunity to be a #1 somewhere at some point down the road.

Sergeev absolutely clobbered the USHL and Big 10 Conference when he was given the keys as starter. The two years at UConn were okay when he was part of tandems, though he certainly had some shining moments.

It'll be interesting to see how he does at the pro level. The guy has the ability to be a big time clutch performer.

Stockselius could be our Backlund replacement, solid responsible 2-way center. Good to see that Misa kept the same pace this year and the strong playoff performance is encouraging.

Voted Stockselius again, with Misa next.

Yeah, I'm going with Sergeev until he gets voted in. Looks like it might still be another couple of rounds.

I feel if Wolf hadn't emerged as well as he has, Sergeev would have gone higher.

To be fair... the older brother should be Misa 1.
