That seems cheap.

Canucks are weird.

bad trade by the canucks.

Joshua is a useful depth player, and the forward group already feels very weak.

Canucks were over the cap and he really regressed last year. Probably good to get out from under that contract for them. Interested to see how he performs with the Leafs

Canucks clearing cap space for some reason?

They're definitely clearing cap space. Maybe to sign Roslovic or someone of that ilk; maybe to make a trade. They need more center depth.

Thing is, this is probably a bad move. Joshua had a great year two years ago and then got cancer. He missed camp and a bunch of the season, again, due to cancer. It's very likely that now that he's had a full offseason without having to deal with that that he'll be a very useful player.

I'd rather have Joshua at 3.25 or whatever than Kane at what they're paying him this year.

He's been rumoured to be on the block all summer.

Good trade for the Leafs if he regains his previous form.

Canucks are pure chaos. At least they are making the boring offseason a bit more interesting.

Brad grabbed a 4th liner for a pick.

So traded a fourth for Kane, and traded Joshua to recoup the pick.... Wouldn't it have been better to just, you know, not do either trade?

Berube should know him well. Leafs want him to help counter Greer, Gadjovich and Nosek

This guy seems to be a better and cheaper Trent Frederic. LOL Oilers and Canucks.

He makes 3.25Mx3 and scored 14 points last season.

He also only earned that contract on the back of shooting 21.5% in a contract year.

He can be a decent-to-good bottom sixer, but at best he's only living up to that deal, and will never outperform it.

A 4th seems reasonable.

Canucks have been looking to open up room and it was between Joshua and Hoglander. So Joshua got the biggest return. Signed him for nothing and got a fourth back. They will use the room they created. Then and only then should we judge the trade

It's worse: his last name is a first name, and his first name is a state. You wouldn't sign a hockey player named Delaware Fred, would you?

I mean, if your first name is a place, it should at least be a Canadian place. If there's a player named Saskatchewan Albert, he should be drafted for his name alone. That's a hockey name!

Joshua was a guy who played lights out and looked like a player two years ago.

Joshua then had a year from hell where there was no chance he'd ever replicate his previous season. Literally had cancer and then two bad injuries after coming back from that.

Do I think he can get back to the way he was? Yes. Do I think the Canucks felt they could risk he didn't with his cap hit and their holes to fill? No.

It was going to be Joshua or Blueger who left to open up cap space and I think Blueger is too good on the PK to move coupled with Joshua being a question mark.

I think the Leafs get a hell of a player for not much of he returns to form.

Edit - Someone above mentioned Hoggy, but I don't think he was ever in the mix to move. The Canucks are relying on him taking a big step forward, which seems more likely now that he doesn't have a coach who will bench him for considering making a skill play in the offensive zone.
