I take it you haven't looked at the Stars salary cap situation... They can't keep everyone and add more on top, even with the cap going up.

They only have $1.955M in cap space right now for next season with a 21 player roster.

They do have $27.98M in cap space for 2026-27 but need to extend 4 RFAs, two of which will be very expensive (Robertson and Harley) and if they have Andersson and his extension, they are way over the cap.
- Robertson = $11-12M? He likely gets Marner money... unless they go to arbitration and get a cheaper 1 year deal to walk him to UFA? and they lose Robertson to UFA.
- Bourque = $2M? He signed a terrible contract this summer but I can't see him keep doing that.
- Harley = $9.5M to match Dobson? Or maybe he gets capped internally by Heiskanen's $8.45M?
- Lundkvist = $2M? Small raise for a third pair guy
- Andersson = $9M? Maybe he takes less if they can squeek in an 8 year deal.

And then they still need to add 4 more players to get to a 23 player roster.

Maybe I am guessing these numbers wrong but their cap space will disappear quickly and unloading Lyubushkin's $3.25M is likely not enough to fix it.

And they trade away a 25 year old, PPG center to alleviate that cap crunch? Narrators voice: No they ****ing didn't. Come the **** on.

No, not only do I not think he's free, I think he's A) unavailable and B) If you paid what it would take to make him available our fan base would be shocked and appalled at what we'd give up.

Think Andersson + 1st + Zary + likely more to get Dallas thinking about it. Personally I'd happily do Andersson + 1st + Zary, but the rest of you guys work yourself up into acquiring top end assets from other teams every time a rumored teams comes up for a Flames player that you guys probably wouldn't do it and would think it was a huge overpayment.

Trading for Robertson, just so we can flip him later is going to be perfect for thos pi$$ed at Anderson for choosing where he wants to go, as Robertson is likely to do the same. He wil have us over a barrell if we don't want to pay his QO, so to trade him it could be a rental situation again. Do we get what he is worth in that situation?
