Robertson for Andersson is a win for the Flames asset wise IMO
Just keep winning trades and not giving retirement contracts

Anaheim: Robertson
Calgary: McTavish
Dallas: Andersson+VGK 1st+ Pospisil
Anaheim adds a top tier local talent as they try and end their playoff drought. Calgary adds a big center that fits with Wolf, Coronato, Parekh. Dallas adds a coveted right shot D, are able to replace what Marchment brought for far less, and recoup a pick in a draft where they didn’t have one.

More realstic to me is
Dallas: Anderson (50%), Coleman
Buffalo: Robertson
Calgary: Byram, Buffalo 1st
No way you attach a 1st to Andersson unless you are getting a star back.

Just don't see how Dallas giving up Robertson for Andersson gets them closer to a cup really. They could likely find a more clever way of squeezing in Ras without having to move a large salary and gamebreaking talent out of your lineup. I'd be very surprised if that was a move Nill decided to make

Look who Buffalo is getting. Plus a RFA they can force him to stay.

Robertson for Andersson has been thrown around by Frank multiple times, man would it be nice to win a trade at initial look and no matter how you slice it that would be a massive win for Calgary if it stuck as a 1 for 1. The fact that it still hasn’t happened though tells me it isn’t a 1 for 1 and there is more to this but the Flames and Stars make great trading partners.

Rantanen pretty much takes Robertson's spot. Robertson's cap hit goes to Andersson and then they can add. A fully retained Andersson 1 for 1 for Robertson gives the stars the flexibility to add . Something they cannot do if they just acquire Andersson . Plus they need the depth so IMO the Bischels and Bourques likely are pieces on the cheap the stars would want to keep. By my estimate, 1 for 1 would give the stars over 5m in cap space to add a secondary scoring option they otherwise would not be able to add if they did an alternative for Andersson.
Out is Robertson's 7.750m contract
In is Anderssons 2. 275m fully retained contract
That's leaves the stars 7.470 ish cap space to find alternative scoring depth.
It just makes sense. Because there's no way they can move forward the following season with much room. There's still 2 more seasons left on Seguin.

In the deal proposed where the Flames give up a first they are getting McTavish...easily the highest value player discussed in the last few pages

As much as it appears to be speculation from Frank, he has mentioned it multiple times as you said, there just might be some smoke on this one. Robertson as a Flame would be interesting and would give them great snipers on each of the top 2 lines.
All that said, dealing Robertson to the Ducks to get McTavish would obviously be better from a Flames standpoint and finally give them the young potential 1st line C they need for the next decade. Robertson being a California native, and it all seems to line up for some sort of 3-way trade, or at least a trade for Robertson to flip to Anaheim.

I can see a Robertson for Andersson deal, the main thing the Flames were looking to add this offseason was more scoring. I am not buying McTavish is going anywhere.

if you can get a Rasmus (without much added) for Robertson deal that would be a huge home run.
Robertson fits into our age group and what we need, elite talent upfront.
A group of Robertson, Wolf and Parehk gives you a really good foundation of elite skill to build off of.
Hit big on a couple more prospects, and I think you jump into serious contention longterm.

Robertson is over PPG for his career and only 25 he would be an absolute steal for Rasmus even with having to add

This is what weaponizing cap space looks like.
Use an expiring asset with a cheap cap hit to bring in a player the other team is going to have to make sacrifices to re-sign.
If this happens it's brilliant asset management by the Flames, even if they have to add.

That is not realistic. McTavish is fan fantasy.
Byram/Andersson/Robertson are at least names being floated.
But I do want my 1st round pick in any deal.
We have room for Byarm. We don't have room for Robertson unless he is flipped for picks and prospects.

Man if the Flames managed to move Kadri for futures they could conceivably replace Kadri with Seguin; taking that contract on would be worth a ton to Dallas too… so many moving parts and two massive trades just seems like something that wouldn’t happen all at once but it’s fun to imagine!
To Montreal
Kadri
Pospisil
To Calgary
26 1st top 10 protected
27 3rd
Hage
To Dallas
Andersson 50% retained + extended
Coleman 25 % retained
Pachal
To Calgary
Robertson
Seguin 15 % retained
Bischel
26 1st top 10 protected
27 3rd
Robertson - Seguin - Coronato
Huberdeau - Zary/Frost - Sharangovich
Farabee - Zary/Frost - Gridin (dark horse to make the team)
Lomberg - Backlund - Klapka
Kirkland, King
Weegar - Hanley
Bahl - Parekh
Bischel - Brzustewicz
Bean, Miromanov
Wolf
Prosvetov, Cooley
