I mean, look at a guy like Jagr and his career, $450K in gambling debts? Considering his contracts at the time? He'll get over it. Not paying the IRS? Well...who among us has never done that?

The gambling thing with Kane and the debts would not get a lot of attention if it wasn't on top of everything else surrounding him. You can also only be accused of assault so many times until you lose the benefit of doubt. There was also some schadenfreude seeing someone who previously bragged about their wealth ending up in debt and declaring bankruptcy.

Not to mention, Spousal Support, Child Support and Debts to Vegas Casinos.
Take out the Government, but if there are 3 groups you do not want to owe??

Maybe it’s just me, and why I find the conversation around Kane so odd, but I would think the assault allegations he’s paid his way out of are a much bigger deal than inflated stories about his divorce and one $500k debt to a casino he didn’t pay (until they sued him for it).

Still can't believe the Canucks gave up an asset for this guy. I woud enjoy it a lot more if the team receiving benefit was anyone other than the Oilers.
Then again, maybe this is 4D chess by the Canucks? Take a fragile locker room and toss in a d-bag grenade, trade Hughes for a big haul, and play the odds in the draft lottery.

On the bright side, the Oilers have no idea what to do with a 4th-round pick, except trade it for another player who won't help them. After the top 5 picks overall, that organization doesn't know if a draft pick is something you hang on the wall or wipe with after using the circular sink toilet.
