Surprised that we do not hear more about the Red Wings when it comes to Andersson.
Yzerman sounds like Andersson is exactly what they are looking for.

Or is Detroit on his six team no trade list?
- Buffalo
- Winnipeg
- Ottawa
- Detroit
Andersson would be a good fit in Detroit. But Yzerman has been extremely patient and cautious - the only big swing he has taken in six seasons as GM was trading for a 25-year-old first line forward (Debrincat).

Maybe he’s starting to feel the heat and will change his approach. But until that happens, I wouldn’t expect him to get in a bidding war for Andersson or anyone else.

Oh, maybe it wasn't a throwback. Hilarious coincidence.

I guess you are a newer poster.

A team like Vegas would take the chance.
Wasnt it Yzerman that gave up the farm for Tanner Jeonnot?

There's a lot of opinions thrown out in general in this thread (not saying you in this post PW), but nothing is certain. If you believe it's certain, it's gambling. There is always a chance.

Complete hypothetical situation. Anderson tells Conroy he'll consider a deal all year, then says 100% he will sign one, but work out numbers after season. Season ends, for whatever reason he flips the script and changes his mind.

Is that likely? No. But everybody is human, and there is no such thing as certainties when it comes to human nature and emotions

No chance on the hypothetical situation.
1) They already talked numbers and the Flames and Andersson are millions apart.
2) Conroy has publicly stated and committed through action that no player will walk to UFA after the Gaudreau walk and he has proven with numerous players that if they do not sign early then he will trade them as soon as he gets a deal that he likes.
3) I think the Flames want to trade Andersson to make room for Parekh (and hopefully another rookie or two)

If Conroy hadn't put so much evidence into trading away UFAs in his short tenure then maybe you could wiggle some uncertainty into the hypothetical.. but he has really demonstrated that he meant what he said.

How can you agree 100% to sign a deal, but "work out numbers after the season"?

Will you be happy when every player who was on the Flames' roster in that series has been shot, or are you holding out for boiling them in oil?

You're completely irrational on that subject. It was five games. Five incredible stinkers of games, but still only five games. It didn't define anybody's entire career.

By claiming to not want to negotiate during the season. Would be a distraction. Gaudreau's exit played out similarly.

But that is not a 100% agreement to sign a deal.

You don't have 100% agreement to sign a deal until you actually sign a deal.

I think it defines Markstrom pretty well. Was his biggest moment and like the 4th time he's been the 2nd best goalie in a series.

So in other words, it only defined his entire career in conjunction with those other three series where he was the second-best goalie. Which means, it didn't define his entire career. His whole body of work did that.
