The problem is if you think this way too much and you cut good veterans away from the team who have good habits and winning attitude/pedigree that they can bestow on the future class then you can become a Buffalo situation. It’s a fine line and id argue that Coleman and Kadri balance out their perceived negative value of keeping us in the mushy middle by helping us achieve wins we otherwise wouldn’t get because they are instilling good habits with the Zary’s, Coronto’s and other future young stars on the team.

TBH I doubt anything happens now.
I feel like most offseasons (no impacted by COVID etc) rarely see any moves between July 10 - August 15.
That's generally the time when NHL is pretty quiet and the true NHL "offseason".
If anything happens with Andersson before the season it's likely in that mid August time frame IMO.

Alright, I'll play, how many points are Kadri and Coleman costing the Flames in the inverse standings?
While we're on that topic, how much of the quick development of Coronato, Zary, Pospisil, and Klapka can be attributed to playing with Kadri, and Coleman. Is that a positive value to the future of the team?
Finally, If you're really interested in bottoming out then the conversation should start with moving Weegar and Wolf, because they're the ones that contribute the most to getting points in the standings. No one in their right mind actually wants to move them though.
PS: I think there's a decent chance that the Flames will have a Boston like fire sale closer to the deadline and move on from Backlund, Coleman, Andersson, and maybe even one of Farabee, and Kadri.

I like how people were telling other people to shut up, that Kadri wasnt going anywhere. Then Kadri comes out and says hey, let's talk about it. Lol.
Love it, Kadri needs to be moved asap.

Well that's not how I interpreted the quote.
I thought he was acknowledging that it's a slow time of year so not surprised there was speculation and conversation about this stuff.
Not that he is saying "yes I want to talk to Flames management about a possible trade".
Verry different things.

Yeah, he was addressing the fact that there's rumors and that most if not all of them are coming out of Toronto. And it's to be expected in such a fanbase.

My gut says he is just trolling the media (and the fans who want to fantasize about trading him). The comment was very "whatever floats your boat during the offseason".
I doubt he would make that kind of comment in the regular season because then it would become a twice a day question from Francis.

Well its certainly not a player saying these rumors are bunk Im not going anywhere. He calls the rumors "Interesting". Sounds like he is at least open to a move to me.

I think we could trade guys like Andersson and Kadri, while keeping Coleman, Backlund and Weegar -this keeps some decent vets around to bring the kids up, while hopefully making us bad enough to get some decent draft picks. It's a delicate balance, you don't want to go full Buffalo, or Edmonton pre-Connor... Although I think those are more organizational issues, rather than them lacking a few vets for the young guys.

Were these people told to "shut up" or were they told he has a NMC, and that you have to be careful in pressuring players that have stated they want to be here and have a NMC because it could affect the existing team and the ability to sign players in the future?

Asking players to waive their NMC is not uncommon, so I'm not sure why the Flames would be penalized for this more than any other team. Is it ideal? No, but it's always a two-way street. Kadri signed a 7-year deal with not a ton in the cupboard and some expiring deals upcoming in the organization.
If over the course of a few years a team's trajectory changes, I don't see why that should impact teams' abilities to make moves that reflect that change.

I actually haven't mentioned Kadri in weeks. But it seems to be a very touchy subject for some people. Seeing as how you're so upset that I am bringing up legit points on why he needs to be traded.

I'll go with Kadri stoking the fire/self-sabotage.
