Yup, the finale was awesome. Are they really doing S2? I thought I read that this was a one and done limited series.

I thought season one was great overall. A significant improvement over the past few seasons. They did a great job in casting, well beyond the remarkable look-alikes in most cases. I still don't entirely understand Spencer's motive in kidnapping and murdering all those children. I feel like I missed a piece of dialogue there. I know why he went after his own "son", but what explains his methodology with the other boys? Was he just trying to frame the cartel to have them taken down... but what was with the lunch box, the finger, and the confinement/torture? I felt like that could have been better explained.

I did like the subplot with Brian Moser, yet felt it was wrapped up too neatly. I hope they bring him back into future seasons. Why did he leave Dexter alone for so many years, only to reappear as the Ice Truck Killer in season one? I also hope they give more weight into why Harry Morgan commits suicide, as it seems like he's all in favour of Dexter's Dark Passenger right now. What makes Harry change his mind?

One thing I took away from the series is that I ended up being angry that they killed off Debra at the end of season eight. I know she's just a character in a show, but she didn't deserve to die like that. It's upsetting knowing the strides she made over the years, only to realize she was killed off like that. Considering the reboots I'm sure they'd love to find a way to bring her back... The show will not be the same without her foul mouth (and heart) in tow.

Not confirmed but cast and crew have stated in interviews that the show was never intended as a limited series but it depended on ratings. Clyde Phillips hinted the other day the show will go on.

Pretty strong ending. The rescue had some intensity and even the little monologue from Deb carried some emotional weight. There are a lot of enjoyable characters. The opening recap on Brian was interesting.

It does wrap things up a bit neatly but that was probably in case they didn't get the ratings they were looking for. I assume they did and we'll see them connect the dots with more seasons.

I also wonder what keeps Brian away until S1.

Harry has probably been the weakest link in this series, even though I like Slater. It wasn't his best role. And given what we've seen of Harry in the original series flashbacks, him giving Dexter his blessing that openly was a bit perplexing. Remar's Harry never came off as comfortable with what Dexter did, just that he knew it was necessary because Dexter couldn't help his nature.

The LaGuerta actress is so good in this that I can't stand her. I guess that's a compliment.

I caved and binged it. Strong pilot, then it was just alright for me until episodes 8 and 9 which were the strongest of them all, IMO. Finale wasn't as good as 8 and 9.

Reddit was raving about 8 as one of the best in Dexter history.

I believe that ended with Dexter and Deb riding back to Miami on Slice of Pie at night and there's some foreshadowing to Dex's BHB era and her eventual fate.

Seems like recency bias to me, they definitely brought back some of the original Dexter vibe that New Blood was certainly not able to do and the young Dexter/Deb actors were very good, but nothing here was close to touching the best episodes from seasons 1-4.

Such is the case with a lot of things.

1-4 had sharper writing without a doubt.

On a different note i had the thought the other day that young Dexter should appear to MCH Dexter in resurrection!

Looks like we're in line for much more Dexter in the future. Original Sin renewed for season two.

First two episodes of Dexter: Resurrection have dropped if you know where to look. Not supposed to be released until tomorrow.

I think the episodes were very strong. I enjoyed the setup and change of setting. Even bringing back Harrison, who I was not looking forward to seeing worked for me as the tone is completely different. My wife pointed out how Dexter has "changed", and is becoming more "human"..... but he obviously can't shut off his Dark Passenger.

I would say there were one too many plot contrivances/conveniences in the first two episodes, but I suppose we have to let that slide. Dexter being let off completely scot-free from his ex was a little too much to swallow, yet at least it's plausible. Also curious to what they're doing with the Uma Thurman angle. Looks like they work with a network of serial killers, who perhaps have to compete with each other? I'm certain that's what Peter Dinklage is behind. I did miss Jennifer Carpenter, but it was good to see James Remar and John Lithgow back in action.

Those first two episodes were excellent. Really looking forward to seeing where this goes.

I thought the music was good but the overall episodes were terrible. The actor that plays Harrison can't act, not sure why they brought him back. Just do a season of Dexter on the run with Batista chasing him, it would be much more interesting.

Just found out that the new episodes of Resurrection were dropping! Let's do this..

I wonder how fanfic-like Dexter continuing after his "ending" is going to come across or if it's written convincingly..

Edit: These cameos are amazing, the actors look good for how much time has passed
