Welcome to the annual Calgarypuck Prospect Poll!
As per usual ...
1. Rank the prospects as you like. Upside, chances, or trade value
2. I will try and do one a day which should get us to mid to late August
3. Graduates and/or runoffs will be determined in each case
4. Please don't complain that the polls are going to deep. We go until all the prospects are ranked, so don't vote if you don't want to.

Still voting Basha, and it's between him and Mews for me. Morin probably rounds out this tier.

We should have betting odds on who can call 6 through 10 correctly. Truly a lot of combinations out there.

The fact that a first rounder from 2 seasons ago who made the team last year is still on the board speaks volume about the Flames prospect depth. I really hope some of these guys pan out.

Battaglia is a dark horse for me, I voted for him but there are at least 4 or 5 other options I was thinking of as well.
As others have said, the prospect depth now is kinda crazy, and will probably get deeper in the next year or so.

Top 5 already picked and we still have Basha, Battaglia, Mews, Honzek, Suniev and Morin on the board.
Deep prospect pool.

Way too soon for Honzek, at least 3 spots too soon.
Hes a replaceable bottom 6 checker, not the second coming of Backlund.. they dont even play the same position.
I have Mews, Basha and Battaglia all ahead so I voted Mews as he seems to be leading out of the 3.

Any of those names could have been #1 in some of the lean years

I went with Mews here. Impressive draft plus 1 season and he was picked in an area of the draft where defenceman in particular seem to end up as good NHL players.
Honzek might be more NHL ready, but I don't know if he'll play 200 games with the Flames type of thing. His development has been all over the place and I'm not sure what he is. He had a great preseason last year, but outside of that he has been very underwhelming.

Honzek has the highest floor, I am putting value on his NHL and IIHF tournament experience. I think we see him take a big step next year.

That’s his floor. He is 100% an NHLer who probably would have been better served by not making the team straight out of camp in his D+1 year, only to be demoted and subsequently hampered by multiple random injuries, much like Backlund early in his career. That and his 200 foot game are the reasons for the comparisons. Honzek’s ceiling is still top six winger.

Been very impressed with Mews every time I've seen him. He really caught my eye at the last prospect camp. It's too bad this year's camp was a dud for fans.

He's going to have a great AHL season IMO. Prediction: he's going to start playing at a PPG pace half way through the season.
I just hope Suniev and Battaglia end up working on their skating every chance they get. Every other aspect of Suniev's game is top notch, essentially Coleman with a better shot.

He's had some injury trouble but has progressed just fine, had a decentrookie year in the AHL. Thought about Stromgren but he is older and only just now reaching his potential. Honzek is ahead of where Stromgren was at this stage. High floor player and a unique skill-set on our team.

I thought Honzek showed pretty well last year for his age playing a pro game. His injuries have been unfortunate but I see lots of potential.
