I'm ok with this if they can figure out how to cut 2 or 3 hours off of the run-time and get rid of a bunch of cringe. Neither of these things are inherent to a decentralized draft

It would have been fine if they didn't do the GM zoom call. That was bad. As far as I was concerned after they ditched that bit or at least the times they did not use it, it was fine.

The execs want it. Even Conroy said the discussions were better when in a room than on the floor where it's loud and not private

There has to be room for a hybrid model, where each team has a couple of representatives on the floor (so they can talk face to face with other teams' reps), but most of the management staff are back at the office. It's not like everyone needs to be physically in the same room to talk to each other.

Yeah, I think those were the two biggest problems with it this year and they are both solvable.

They went to a smaller theatre this year probably because they didn't need the extra room for the teams' staffs, but that meant there were only a couple of aisles for the players to walk down to the stage and they had to walk past a lot more other players on the way. This could be solved by redistributing how the players are seated to minimize the number of other players each one has to walk past once he's picked.

The Skype call was just bad and should be completely dropped. It wasn't as bad as the McDavid rose ceremony, but almost.


I wouldn't be surprised if they go back to the Sphere permanently.

Just start the timer faster with each of the picks and speed things up. No need to drag it on forever like this years did. If they speed it up I probably won't mind it.
