He tasted the play-offs and it didn't agree with him

Seems fine for a rebuilder, he'll probably do well next to Celebrini

I think the majority of posters will look at this thread - and their first thought will be - "Why?"

Sharks need to make sure they stay above the cap floor.

And for Skinner choosing the Sharks, I'm guessing he wasn't getting many/any other offers.

I’m looking forward to his tell all book about the oilers.

Obligatory note of congratulations to Skinner and the Skinner family, but not totally heartfelt.

The trade itself was fine.

It was re-signing him to a $9M contract after a 40 goal and 63 point season, and then taking him off of Eichel's line.

Skinner is a one-dimensional forward that is going to struggle if you ask him to do more than that, or play him with other forwards that aren't good.

He worked with Staal and Eichel at times because they could do the heavy lifting and it allowed him to do what he does. He's also generally good on the PP...which was why he never made sense for EDM since he wasn't cracking their 1st PP unit.

Overall though now he's just old and lost a step and that makes him even more ineffective in the areas he already struggled with, and not as effective as a scorer.

It's so wierd to think of Jeff Skinner as lacking speed. He's probably been one of the most technically impressive skaters I've ever seen throughout his career. Though I guess I've never thoughtt of him as fast, it was moreso his edgework

So he accepted the same discount he took with the Oilers? Interesting.

Because he's a sure-fired 30-goal scorer, that's why. Don't disrespect!

I would guess that they try and keep Celebrini with Eklund and Tofolli.

Skinner goes with Smith in a new second line? Maybe they deploy Misa as a winger on the other side of Smith...

Eklund-Celebrini-Tofolli
Misa-Smith-Skinner

If Misa doesn't make the cut this year then they can still trade Ferraro for a second line winger.

Pump and dump candidate. They seem to be loading up on them, which is a good indication that they expect to tank again.

That, and they have to stay above the salary floor even after the trade deadline. They need a couple of extra pump-and-dump candidates, so they can sell off the ones who bring the best return and use the others to meet the cap rules.
