It's also wrong math. 1.3 x 0.75 = 0.975. If they lose a quarter of their subscribers over this, their revenue actually goes down.

Whats the best way to sail on a tv?
Does everyone just connect a laptop or something? Always felt the lack of TV App for Mario was pain if i just want to quickly throw a game on. Are there any options for this?
Last year used NHL.tv which was fine but the 720p is rough.

Cancelled. Sportsnet was overpriced already but this is ridiculous. I'll be joining you salty dogs on the high seas this year.

Relax. I just find it silly to hear the call for "torch and pitchforks" over $75. Are we doing the same when they raise the price of Teen Burgers? Don't like a product or can't afford it? Fine, cancel. But don't kid yourself into believing that a few cancelation in July is going to do anything to change their minds. Now, if all of Canada is going to not watch hockey in October, then sure, that'll move the needle. But they know that's not happening.

You are suggesting making slightly more money while having fewer people watching is good business...its not
Food is a requirement to live, watching NHL hockey is not. Less fans now mean even fewer in the future.

Hopefully the loss of revenue leads to Ron McLean getting canned.

That's exactly what I'm suggesting. Business that can maximize profits will do just that. Raise prices, lose some customers but increase profits, grow again at the new pricing, rinse and repeat.
I'm sure that they know their subscription base. They plan to lose the edges, knowing full well that the bulk will absorb the new pricing and carry on. The Flames do the exact same thing with Ticket pricing.

I just received an email stating that my TSN subscription price is going up in August.
Apparently SN isn't the only one.

Can't believe people were still paying for this service, let alone after this increase. Tried for a few years to give my them money to do it legit and seems there was some kind of impedance every single step of the way.
Not a single reason to continue to give rogers your hard-earned money over finding a free source which takes all of a few seconds , unless you enjoy giving money away.

Where do you watch Jays games for free? NHL playoff games for free? I wish it took me all of seconds to find a quality stream on my TV for free.

There is a Prime Days deal on right now if you subscribe to TSN through Prime. $5/month for the next two months. Nice little deal if you are a Stamps fan.
As for Sportsnet, I cancelled after last year's price increase and, somehow, didn't miss a single game

Those of us living in the US, I guess we are pretty lucky with ESPN+ then?

It's practically free if you already have Disney+ and Hulu.
Though you kind of need HBO Max as well to get all of the games, especially the playoffs.

It's a pretty substantial increase IMO. I am not sure what justifies that much of an increase. Your subscription automatically renews unless you cancel by September 9th.

Thanks for posting this. I just cancelled my subscription!

I always thought TV revenue for professional sports was ad driven in a large part though, which relies on ratings, which relies on having a large and growing number of viewers. I don't think the business model for teen burgers is at all the same for televised entertainment. Even a small dip in viewership and slower growth could make some of the bigger spenders look elsewhere to get bigger bang for their advertising buck.
