He was? He missed four games out of the 20 they played that year according to HockeyDB.

To your point, I think its a little disingenuous to downplay Kadri's value in that cup run, he was 3rd on the team in scoring in the regular season, T5 in the playoffs after missing 4 games, and was the #2 C. Was he the reason they won the cup? no. Would they have won it without him, who knows but its doubtful and he had a key OT winner in game 4 of that series.
After losing in the first round, second round, and first round in the 3 successive seasons, the Avalanche are still trying to replace what he brought to the C position for them, with no success so far.

If not for salary cap concerns, I’m sure the Avs would LOVE to have him for another run- fans, players, and management.

Four games, he missed four games. Kadri ended with 15 points in 16 playoff games. His 7th goal was the OT winner in his return to the line up

Kadri played 16 of 20 games and had 15 points. The Avs 2nd line, which was led by Kadri, was a major contributor and a huge part of their run. The championship teams always seem to have strong depth contributions. Playing at a PPG from the 2nd line is massive, as the 2nd line gets fewer offensive opportunities. 13 of Kadri's 15 points were even strength too, which is a massive boost.
I agree that Kadri is a hot head who gets suspended often. It's really a situation where you have to take the good with the bad though. His personality is one of his greatest strengths and weaknesses.

Worth mentioning too that Kadri has been suspended 6 times in his career (3 regular season, 3 playoffs) but his last suspension was May 2021.
Players/people mature. clearly he has in his time in Colorado and further still here in Calgary.

Avs don't beat the Blues without Kadri...he also scored an OT winner in the finals
Not to mention he scored 87 points in 71 games (1.22 points per game) in the regular season which was a MAJOR factor in their seeding

The Last time Kadri played in the playoffs was 2022...I do agree though that Kadri has likely matured. I think being forced out of Toronto was a bit of a wakeup call for him too, that he had to keep his emotions more under control.

McTavish would be an almost ideal add for the Flames. I may be in the minority, but I'd give up the 2026 1st for McTavish. The Flames start having what looks like a pretty great lineup with McTavish as a #1A/B centre and I don't see their 1st being all that high.

TBH I think Kadri was unfortunate on some of those suspensions too.
Bennett has done some just as dirty stuff (the fly by punch on Marchand) and somehow always was able to escape suspension in Florida.
Like I still have no idea how this was an 8 playoff game suspension...wasn't blind side, wasn't interference. https://www.nhl.com/video/kadri-susp...ames-324898002
Part of me honestly thinks Parros had issues with Kadri from his playing days because Kadri's playoff suspension have always been very harsh compared to others.

I'd give up a number of our prospects/players before the 2026 1st for McTavish.
You just know if they trade that 1st, that pick becomes the lottery winner.

The lottery is what makes it tough.
If picks were determined by just seeding then I'd probably be okay moving it - because this team isn't going to finish last overall.
But with the lottery you just don't know. Nobody would have expected the Islanders to get the 1st overall pick last year and they moved up to get it.

McTavish is the dream piece for the Flames this summer. Huge center with the only knock being a left shot. I had that big 3 way trade with Dallas where the Flames gave up Anderson, Coleman, Pospisil, and Vegas 1st to get him and I would still do that deal all day.
To Dallas: Andersson, Coleman, Vegas 1st (both players 50% retained perhaps by Anaheim)
To Anaheim: Robertson, Pospisil
To Calgary: McTavish (signs 8 year extension around $9M)

Since we are listing insiders here that deserve a pat on the back, surprised Oilfan#81 hasn't been mentioned yet. He has broken a lot of stuff on this board over the years.

I think the only thing I ever “broke” was the EK65 rumor to Pittsburgh. My boss saw Heinen on a cruise ship and Heinen said he hadn’t had a contract yet because the Pens were focused on grabbing EK65 from San Jose. Thought that was a baller move at the time for PIT, but man has it stunk since.

I’ve been told that ANA has NOT made McTavish available, they’re not shopping him actively.
Doesn’t mean the player doesn’t want out or the situation isn’t somewhat stressed, but not being discussed as available… yet at least, suppose that could change.
ANA can match any offer sheet with over 30M in space so that’s not a threat.
Told that McTavish is quite happy in ANA so I’m not entirely sure where the rumour of him not being happy is coming from.
