McKenna/dupont would go a loooong way for creating that buzz. But yes, odds are extremely low for getting either one

I think top picks selling tickets no matter the results. The franchise gets 3-5 year grace if they have franchise level talent fans can get behind and cheer for. That’s the difference. When Bedard was drafted to the Hawks, their season ticket sales went up an astronomical amount.

Too many are forgetting that we did rip a lot down by getting rid of a ton of vets. Not too far off of “scorched earth”. Then, the team surprised just about everyone with their performance last season.
I don’t think that we will be bottom of the league next year, but I can easily see us doing quite a bit worse than last year.
We just might get the pick everyone wants

And that first would have to be the Calgary one.
And then maybe they don't hang up the phone. maybe.
But I suspect every conversations regarding a young player like Johnston starts with Parekh.
It's neat that we think we can piece together a deal that is compelling by just adding more assets, and while that happens from time to time, they are exceedingly rare deals.
If I'm Dallas and you aren't willing to put Zayne on the table, I want a package that starts with Rasmus, 1st and Coronato.
And if he's not on the table I come back with Rasmus+Zary+ your 2026 and 2027 1st.
Top 6 centres are the most valuable things in the league. There's not enough of them and everyone wants them.

From what I’ve read those season ticket sales for the Blackhawks came back to earth almost as quickly.

That's makes zero sense from what I've read. They sold $5.2 mil in season ticket packages in the first 1.5 hours after winning the draft lottery. They averaged 30th in the league with 83% capacity before that. Would be hard to see them coming "back down to earth almost as quickly", that would be shocking after two seasons. Where'd you read that?
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...draft-lottery/
The only thing I found was an article stating that their ticket sales remained high after last off season into this season with a 96% renewal rate.
https://chicago.suntimes.com/blackha...-united-center
Quote:
Despite the team’s poor record, Connor Bedard’s popularity and the team’s ticket-sales strategies have kept fans coming to the United Center. The Hawks ranked fourth in the NHL with 18,836 fans per game and have a season-ticket renewal rate of 96% this spring.

Unless you're talking this off season, but typically figures aren't available right now for any club in terms of season ticket purchases/renewals for the upcoming season as the team still has offers out to last season ticket holders and doesn't know how many new sales will transpire before the season.

We went to Johnston trade proposals after the last time when it was obvious he's almost untouchable? This guy is untouchable unless you're starting with Parekh AND adding

OR
Johnston for Andersson (retained) + Coleman (retained) + Pospisil + Vegas 2026 1st
As we've learned, 1st round picks have all of the value. The other 3 pieces are just there for garnish.

Wait, unless I'm readiong that wrong he wants Zary and Andersson for Johnston but Dallas ADDS a 1st and Bourque to get it done??? Please tell me I read that wrong?

Obviously it's fantasy pondering about acquiring Wyatt Johnston. They're not going to trade the guy they literally just signed a what....8x8.5 million dollar contract (off the top of my head) !? Hell no. Unless he's gone a yolo'ed a Jeff Carter/Mike Richards name for himself with his extra curricular, he's not leaving Dallas any time soon.
No team shakes off a fresh contract like that without borderline criminal charges bubbling up to the surface shortly.

No, its just internet posting. Just find it funny that Johnston proposals went through a whole cycle a month ago that were debunked as unrealistic and then here we are again. The "markstrom for 10th overall, but we shouldn't have to find up our late first" should be a meme response to most CP trade proposals at this point.

Fair enough, but you could get the point across without mocking other posters and trying to single them out for ridicule. Not everybody reads every post, and we were just speaking hypothetically. We shouldn't be afraid to post on here without being made to feel like morons.
