What about Ras and Coleman for Robertson.

But really, if you have the power of seeing into the future then there would be a laundry list of moves you would want to un-#### before that trade:
- Tkachuk Bridge deal - Instead, sign him to a max term contract
- Trading Bennett - Instead, tell your coach to make him the #2C and deal with it
- Letting Gaudreau walk to UFA - Instead, set a preseason deadline to sign an extension before you trade him away for a monster return
- Trading Monahan - Instead, get a Doctor that shuts him down and makes him heal before putting him back in the roster
- Tkachuk trade - No longer needed because he is still under contract
Then, while you are breaking the laws of physics, you may as well go to the draft and snag all of those guys like Thomas or Robertson over Valimaki or grab Hoglander instead of Pelletier.. and claim Forsling when he is on waivers.
Then use your super power to win all the cups.

The Blues package was god awful
Scandella, 1st and tarasenko

It only makes sense if Robertson signs for a $10.5Mx8 year extension and then puts up 55 points next year.
If you don't have over 20% of your cap tied up on the left wing, you will never be able to do the left wing lock.

Right... definitely not that.
So go back to 2019 and sign an 8 year deal and just avoid the trade altogether.

I don’t think Robertson. I would prefer prospects and picks.

The absolute dream is Conroy somehow pulls Mason McTavish out of Anaheim in some wild 3-way while the Flames retain their own ‘26 and ‘27 1st rounders.
No clue how it’d happen, but it’s a dream.

Rasmus retained for Bourque + Unprotected 2027 Dallas 1st.
That feels reasonable.

I have no interest in a late 1st from Dallas. Go big or go home. If you have to add to pry something more valuable out of there go for it.

You're not getting Johnston or Harley....so not really sure what you're trying to pry out of there.

Then it isn't worth dealing with them. This is how the Flames continue to spin their wheels, giving up valuable pieces for bit parts that amount to nothing. Instead you need to put together a bigger package to another team to get something valuable back.

Bichsel + Bourque + 2027 1st for Andersson (full retention)
Or
Johnston + Lyubushkin for Andersson (retained) + Coleman (retained) + Pospisil

I'll take Bichsel, Bourque, a 1st and something else for Ras and Coleman.
Johnston and Harley are not happening. Love Robertson, but he's not what the Flames need right now.

1st and 2 2nds are not bit parts. You continue to spin your wheels trying to target pluggers like Bishel or Bourque. They have zero trade value to add an impact player.
If you drop 2 1st round picks that’s gets you into the conversation to get impact players.
Draft picks have way more value. Just look at the trade for Dobson. It was mid round picks. Even Dougie was a mid round pick. Miller was traded for picks. Rantanen picks.

Ok Jim, what can we get then? I mean you know this for fact so what can we get? Johnston isn't as untouchable as you think he is. He is a good young C, he might even become a big number producing C but he costs a lot in a position they are still strong at if they move him, they can then keep Robertson, and they fill in gaps they have to address if they are going to challenge for a cup. Johnston is not Leon Draisaitl.
