This would give Dallas $1,955,084 in breathing room from a cap perspective assuming Kolyachonok goes to the AHL.

Scoring Winger

I don't understand what Pittsburgh is doing here. They get worse, older, and more expensive.
Like.... what?
Good trade for Dallas, though. I guess people somehow still haven't caught on to the fact that Dumba, having stopped scoring six years ago, has been a negative-impact player for six years.

Pittsburgh is almost certainly getting an asset here to take Dumba. Right?

They're going into full tank mode IMO.

A legit shot at McKenna seems to be their goal.

...would this not count as weaponizing cap space?
Pretty good return for Pittsburgh. This is effectively a Sean Monahan premium being paid here. 2nd round pick for $3.75M.
I did not think Dumba would be that level of a dump. Dallas paying a price that we haven't seen paid in a few years...hard to believe they're doing this without a larger purpose...

Conroy's inability to utilize the cap space he has created for such moves is one of my only criticisms to date. It's such an easy way to stockpile draft capital, and surprisingly it's a guy like Dubas who is the one taking advantage of these teams.

I do wonder if our inability to weaponize cap space is not a Conroy limitation, but an ownership constraint. Just speculation, but given the challenges around the Markstrom deal it's possible

This seems like kind of a Dumb-a move for Pittsburgh to me.
