No need to go into UFA market for 4th line center. Morton should be able to handle it.
It could very well be Pospisil to start the year, if that doesn't work then Costco. I'm pretty sure that Kerins becomes waiver eligible, so he probably needs an opportunity as well.
Huberdeau - Kadri - Zary
Coleman - Backlund - Coronato
Farabee - Frost - Sharangovich
Lomberg - Pospisil - Klapka
Kirkland / Kerins / Morton - take your pick.
That's why I'm hopeful the Flames manage to generate some assets by moving a forward or two.
Flames definitely don't need to dip into free agency for a 4th line center. Between Morton, King, Kirkland and even Pospisil, there should be enough depth there.
Hopefully Morton or King grab this opportunity.

I hope we see Morton a lot more this season, I think he fits well in the target age range with NHL skills. He could carve himself a solid bottom 6 role on this team as it develops.
He's a 4th line centre on a non-contender at best.
He's likely going to see most of his time in the AHL pending injuries, and a guy that likely easily passes through waivers.
That's not to say there is zero chance that he could carve out an NHL career, there is always a chance.
He does a number of things OK, so is the composite tweener. But a number of tweeners, given a good opportunity, sometime stick in the NHL for multiple years.
Hmm, he's a center and he's 6' so I guess we can't complain about that. Wait - he's 26, that's gotta be too old right?
Who cares, let's see if he's useful. He seems like a good guy, I much prefer this sort of thing vs going out and getting some retread that we're sure is going to work out better for our team than the previous teams.

Biggest knock against Morton is that he's behind Costco on the depth chart. He definitely has a shot at 4C or 13F, though.
Besides:
Mr. Morton played centre ice.
Mr. Morton played.
Mr. Morton made a new deal… nice!
Mr. Morton made.
Mr. Morton was hopeful.
Mr. Morton was.
Mr. Morton is the subject of the sentence,
And what the predicate says, he does!
