An interesting video. The short of it is that trump drew in voters who fear lose of social status. I hate status and hierarchy so I struggle to not look even sympathize let alone empathize with these people
That's interesting, I find fear that people will not be able to share the generational privilege they enjoyed with their children/grandchildren... the most empathetic thing about these people. I grew up relatively well off, and often fear the loss of that as we move away from the life my parents provided for met. How could one not want to provide everything they had and more to their children, and how could you not fear being unable to do that. As a statistical generalization, many of these people probably grew up in a house their parents owned and now have kids living in a rented house, or a house the grandparents own, or have put off having kids for not being able to afford kids and a home, that's certainly a valid concern in life.
What I find completely unempathetic about these people is their lack of interest in what is causing the stratification of wealth to the point that they have direct enablers of the root causes of everything they complain about.
Its the single-wide folks looking longingly and angrily at the double-widers...and not at the mansion people, thats the weirdness I dont get.
I think it's the double-widers looking longingly at the mansion people. They want to be mansion people, so they can't be angry at them. Therefore, they blame the single-widers. If they are responsible for their bad situation, you can ignore that thought in the back of your head that something beyond your control could make you end up being one of them.

It is valid however the way maga expresses this concern is completely backwards. They cannot have everything you wrote while being ruled by robber barons.
I am impressed by, as mentioned above, the effectiveness of the southern strategy to redirect the fear of the maga cult.

So, I saw that the DOJ is now investigating former CIA Director during Trump's first term, and former FBI Director James Comey for their Russian election interference investigation? I can't imagine much will come out of this in terms of real impact to either guy, but I think many of us predicted this was going to happen if/when Trump returned for a second term when he would go on a revenge tour for the multiple suits levied against him after he left office by that administration.

WASHINGTON — A new report from a New York-based think tank questions the drug trafficking rationale for U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs on Canada, saying the data shows the vast majority of fentanyl seizures in the United States are linked to the southern border.
The Manhattan Institute analyzed newly released data on fentanyl seizures made in the 50 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., from 2013 to 2024, with a focus on the last two years.
It found that about 99 per cent of the pills and 97 per cent of the powder were found along the border with Mexico.
The report found that large fentanyl seizures along the Canadian border were relatively rare.

I was just thinking about Netanyahu giving him that letter and then Trump saying what a special honor it is especially coming from him. Wasn't it just 2 weeks ago Trump said Israel didn't know what the #### it was doing?
