I was there on Friday. Min 50% off everything and selection was already fairly limited.
Guessing not much left by now.
That's unfortunate. I went in there a few months ago for a look around, and it was very high-end, and very expensive.
I'll be the first to admit that I skew more to the Decathlon end of things, and I knew that this would be more of a premium store. But my wife and I were actually surprised at some of the prices and wondered aloud how that place stayed open. I'm sure that the $200+ brand name hiking pants are wonderful and all, and that's OK if someone wants to pay it, but I guess that not enough people were.
Really!? Not that MEC is the pinnacle of quality but most of my MEC clothing/equipment has held up really well over the years.
From reading this last page, I think I'll have to give Decathalon a second chance, I went when it initially opened not knowing exactly what to expect and it just seemed cheap/lower quality.
My old MEC stuff is generally fine, but pretty much everything I've tried recently has been a no go. Tbh I haven't bought a lot from decathlon, but I've been impressed with the things I tried and did not buy. Very impressed with the super cheap vented ball caps, a merino base layer, and a bunch of kids stuff.

Jesus. I'm starting to think Doug Putnam is bad at retail.
So Cross Iron is the only one left for Calgary?
Macleod South is still open. I went in there on the weekend. They had an HMV within the store selling CDs, DVDs and Records. Also a sizeable children's book area. It was pretty dead and had like 2 employees working the entire place.

Even as a kid 40 years ago I wondered why they had all these crappy toys every where when the video game section was all that mattered. Tron Deadly Discs, Astrosmash, Lock n' Chase. Night Stalker.
My Kid got a Gift Card for there. After 30 mins he went with a box of Upper Deck Hockey Cards. Just nothing of interest in the Toys area. I do not even think they carry video games anymore.
