Sox were able to get runners on both innings, but Bassitt got out of it both times with double plays

He’s got a couple of double plays. But started slowly.

Pirates could be a one stop shop for the Jays who could use an elite reliever and another good starting pitcher. Id rather an ace type starter but obviously they are not readily available and Mitch Keller is a probably a strong #3 or eve a decent #2 starter? Also under team control until 2029 with a very reasonable $15.4 million AAV. Nabbing him would help considering Bassitt and Sherzer are FA's after this season.
The elite reliever would be David Bednar who is their closer. He had a rough year last season, but has bounced back nicely this sporting a 12.9 K/9 and 2.7 BB rates along with a 2.7 ERA and 2.55 xFIP. Stud numbers. He's under control next year then a free agent in 2027.
Cost would be steep but I'd be all over it if I were the Jays.

Nice little rest day for the bullpen. They play tomorrow and then a day off before the next series so they should have full availability. Lauer is the next man up.

I just read that with 54 wins the Jays have set their franchise record for wins before the all star break and they still have 4 more games to go.
Awesome.

Don’t care about baseball but always willing to support a Canadian team. Go Blue Jays.

10 in a row does cool things to the standings. Jays are now only 1 game back of the Astros for a bye in the wild card round, and are 6.5 games ahead of the first non-playoff team (Boston)
Hopefully they can grab a couple of arms at the deadline. Ideally a really excellent bulk/long reliever to piggyback with Scherzer (and take that spot if he gets injured) and 1-2 leverage bullpen guys.

So glad to see the SP finally, after 2.5 seasons, get consistent run support. Sweep the Sox and ideally get a split or better vs the As in Sacramento.

Some little league baseball being played by the White Sox and yet they managed to get two outs. What a ridiculous sequence.
