I created a new thread for spoileriffic discussion of the final book without the need for hidden text.

Won't read the Spoiler sbut I think I've read the books enough to have a pretty good idea what will happen in the end. Sure I'll be off on some of my predictions and may not get the details but it is essentially a kids/young adult book...I'm not expecting too many surprises.

ohhh man it's so tempting to highlight the white text!

although i do think that what's important is how you get to x character dieing, not just the fact that they're dieing so generally i don't worry about spoilers too much....but ahhh

This is the last book ever?

I just saw Order of the Phoenix, how many books are there after it?

Ah, so that's how it ends. Heh, now I saved myself many hours of reading any of the books ha ha. I dunno, unlike most people, spoilers don't really bother me. In fact, I like reading spoilers sometimes to see if it ends how I would hope it would end, or just for curiosity sake, as with Harry Potter here.

Apparently, the books are already available in the US (due to an error by the distributor)

should give me something to do on the drive to thunder in the valley.

so excited!! my staff were laughing at a 22 year old male giddy like a schoolgirl about a "childrens" book but honestly i don't care.

Wow, just finished it.

Thought it was great, kept me guessing didn't feel too forced about wrapping up all the loose ends.

The few big surprises seemed to be what was generally expected. I really like it, but felt the final chapter, the epilogue, was odd and thought there should have been more before hand, particularly Harry and Ginny's encounter after the climax.

Yeah, I was expecting a bit more after the final battle, an extended version of how things get back to some semblance of normal, but never can really get back to normal ever again. That's a pretty standard formula and she's a pretty standard formula author, so I was suprised it cut off so quick.

I would have preferred that to the 19 years later thing.

One thing though, the sword that was in the sorting hat, was it the real sword? If so, how did it get there? If not, how did it destroy the last Horcrux?

I should really quit reading this thread until I read the book.

Neville pulled it out of the hat, just as Harry did in Chamber of Secrets.

As for the ending, it was basically: "Yay! We did it! I can't belie- 19 years later."

Well yeah, but in that one Dumbledore probably hid it there to begin with, whereas in this case we know the goblin took the sword for sure.

A few other little things like that but still overall an enjoyable book.

But thats also assuming that somebody needs to put the sword in the hat to begin with. That sorting hat could just have the ability to aquire it when needed.

That's true I guess, with magic there's nothing that doesn't "make sense".
