The past rankings are interesting to revisit. Mostly pretty good with the top of the list generally turning out to actually be the best prospects. Valimaki was a miss. He ran at #1 for 3 years. And Pospisil was a miss. His best ranking was #15.
2019 is a really interesting year to look at- it's probably the 'nadir' in recent years of prospect rankings (the team had a fairly young graduated core of Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Tkachuk, Andersson, Mang amongst others) and Vali is certainly a meh #1, but looking at the guys from 2019 that became NHLers of some degree (including yes tweeners) you have
so still 10 names even in what was a bad prospect pool overall. 2,3 and 14 got derailed for 3 totally different reasons which is probably atypical. the best prospect of course is # 18
the 4 guys with (can't really say still) as some left and came back are 9,18, 24, 32 and that's basically next years 4th line and our starting goalie!
Parekh
Reschny
Kerins
Gridin
Battaglia
Brz
Honzek
Basha
Potter
Mews
Morin
Suniev
Misa
Stockselius
I could be convinced to hot take Reschny over Parekh, I think Reschny is easily the best forward the Flames have drafted since Tkachuk. Parekh should be nasty and he’s really exciting to watch so he still takes the top spot for me.
I’m still super high on Kerins, he’s done everything to be a middle 6 C, and now he’s ready.
Gridin through Misa is entirely interchangeable for me. Every single one of these players SHOULD be a middle sixer or better. Most won’t be but they’re all progressing and projecting really well.
One of Kuznetsov or Solovyov will play at least 100 NHL games and be positive in a bottom 4 role, only problem is I doubt it happens with Calgary.

I totally missed that and it is pretty cool. Have to give credit to both the drafting and development of the later round picks in this case. Not a lot of players become regular NHL'ers in any role picked in the later rounds. I think this year will be interesting to look at in the future. It does feel really deep and there's bound to be a surprise or two ranked below the top 15.

I think you might be out on a ledge by yourself for Kerins at #3
I'm cheering for the guy and I really hope he turns the corner on skating this summer but IMO lots of players above him in potential (ie Potter, Gridin, Brz)

For absolute upside, he wouldn’t be in my top 8, but he’s made it far enough down the development path and still looks good. Younger prospects can look good now but there’s lots of time for them to be derailed.
To be fair though, if Kerins can’t make an NHL impact this year he won’t make my top 10 next year.
Jameison is a Calgary kid, very real chance it could be a family member or friend. I'd vote for him too if he was my kid or my cousin or my buddy. It's all for fun and certainly won't skew the results.
the poster that voted for Jamieson, bear. Jamieson and Carter Bear played together on the Silvertips. bear = Carter Bear

The thing that impresses me so often with Parekh is how well he changes the angle to open up shooting lanes. The top offensive dmen (Hughes, Makar) do this so often, compared to the traditional booming shot from the point. Very excited to see him work the powerplay
