I had just been saying that I am sure Potter is highly regarded by hockey insiders because of his parentage, but less so by the sports media or the general public, who mostly don't follow hockey outside the NHL. Does that make it clearer why I expressed that the way I did?

Has the son of a Women's Hockey Olympian ever made it to the NHL?

Women's hockey has been in the Olympics for almost 30 years, so you'd think it would have happened at some point already.

I was going to say Cammi Granato, but apparently Landon Ferraro is her adopted son.

Ovechkin's mother won 2 Olympic gold medals in women's basketball.

Ellen Weinberg-Hughes likely would have been an Olympian but retired before Nagano when Women's Hockey was first introduced as an Olympic sport. She was an all-star for the 1992 USA Women's World Championship team.

So the Potters might be the first to do so, which is pretty cool.

His father is a muggle, though.

Maybe better served for another thread but any other feedback on camp or even himself from tacojr?

He thought it was a really good format. Far more personal and interactive with the other players and the staff just because of the smaller size. Spoke very highly of the rest of the guys. He shared a room with Basha which is interesting to put the two Calgary guys together. I would have thought that they'd use those two as salesmen to market our city to the Americans and easterners in the group!

Carter did really well on the fitness scores as expected given the training that he's had at Denver over the last four years and given that he's older than a lot of the guys. All in all, a great experience. Workouts with the Flames regulars started yesterday. Two and a half hours of training followed by optional ice four days a week. Intense!
