It is, but that's a super low bar, and these guys are certainly not a solution going forward - Orlov is still decent but he's 33, and Leddy is 34, fell off a cliff last season and also only played 31 games last year.

Andersson instead of Klingberg would still be a massive upgrade toward trying to ice an actual NHL D group. I am not even sure if that is enough to think playoffs, but they would be less of a joke.

I do wonder if SJ would part with Edmontons first as part of a package for Andersson. Nice city, upcoming team. If they can’t get him to sign they flip him at the deadline.

Cant see see SJ making a play for a high trade cost rental. Theres risk in just banking on flipping him, he could get injured etc.

They do need help on the blue line though

I doubt they convince Andersson to sign, but I would consider it if i am Andersson. SJ was one of the 'cream of the crops' in terms of being a destination for UFAs, even if with higher taxes. I think when they improve, they will start becoming attractive again. Would Andersson bet on that? Probably not with other destinations that are attractive right now.
