This is one of the best video analysis of Potter that exist. The video has most of his highlights. Scouching is very very high on Potter. Had Potter in his top 10.
Plays center despite being two younger. Very fast, agile, shifty, explosive. Also a good puck handler. These traits make him cover a lot of the ice. Great at getting the puck into the zone, or assisting teammates in getting the puck into the zone.
Physicality isn't as bad as you'd expect. Finishes checks. Quite tenacious.
Room to grow in playmaking, passing accuracy. More diversity in offensive creation. Tends to make too many shots from the slot off the rush.
Well, out of possible problems for a draft pick to have, this is definitely not the worst

I can't believe the slick back checks and puck stripping. Seems smart. Funny what speed can do on defense. McD could be so much more if he did this.
ASU beat Denver twice last year. It's a good up and coming program and the school has NIL money. Weather is hot and so are the girls. I would think he stays.

Any time you get a player in the 1st round, and they say he is probably the fastest player in the draft, low end potential is pretty high as that intangible is very valuable.
Hopefully he can add a few lbs of muscle this season, could be a steal of a pick.
FC Hockey had him at 9 and Vickers was on for the draft, and he talked very highly of him.
He seems to be responsible at both ends too.

Kinda gives me Matthew Lombardi vibes. I liked HenHenHen so that isn't an issue for me... Lombardi could have been a star had he been able to improve his shot selection

I actually think his career was derailed after the Hatcher hit in the playoff run. Wasn't the same player after that IMO.

So what was that piece of info that Calgary had on this kid that apparently nobody else knew about? Was it ever disclosed/hinted-at?
I may be misremembering but I believe Conny mentioned they had a former scout or personnel member with the Flames that is now part of ASU. So, maybe the secret info is this former employee's opinions on Potter's off-ice habits, personality, drive, etc. I don't think we ever got any explicit info though, so take that with a grain of salt.

I was really impressed with Potter, watching the Dev Camp sessions. Obviously they were just drills but you can tell he's been highly trained by his Mom from a young age. Very smooth, very natural. The kid can really shoot too. Great finish. Carter really liked both him and Reschny. Great guys.

Now this is the type of info I come on this site for! Very cool, hope your son gives Conroy a tough decision in the fall
She's certainly held in high regard in hockey circles, but less known to the general public than top NHLers. Just the nature of the business.
Saying someone is held in high regard in their profession has nothing to do with popularity or fame, when you tacked on that second part of the sentence is confusing.
And hockey circles love a good bloodline, absolutely hockey people look into stuff like that.

The Flames apparently have a real cutting-edge analytics team, who have ways of profiling players that other teams don't- which may have started with Snowy. Potter's underlying numbers must've had them drooling, as he can really drive play, tilt the ice, and transition through exit and entry with apparent ease. Just my guess.
