I just can't fathom one bit why Conroy would have any interest whatsoever in Nic Hague.

Bourque was the only player I saw that fit the bill of being low cost with high potential and on a team that is super tight on cap space.
Anyone else on the list is either too expensive (would cost the 2026 1st) or the other team would match easily.

It's the size and the age.
Overvaluing size and his age, believing he could be a top-4 defenceman. 100% the vision was:
Hague - Weegar
Bahl - Parekh
Just like it would have been with:
Miller - Weegar
Bahl - Parekh
...and just like it currently (probably) is with:
Byram - Weegar
Bahl - Parekh
I don't love any of them, but from what we can put together the Flames pro scouts targeted all 3 of those players.
I think the Flames pro scouting department is significantly lacking when compared to their amateur scouts.

Thank God another player saved us from ourselves!
This team could be so much different going into the year if all the players who rejected us had said yes.

List of offer sheet eligible players:
https://puckpedia.com/players/search...25-offer-sheet
$1,544,425 - $2,340,037 = 2026 3rd Round Pick
$2,340,038 - $4,680,076 = 2026 2nd Round Pick
Mason McTavish's name shows up yet again... but you gotta think Anaheim matches that easily.

100%. It's funny because from the "big 6" UFA crop, the player I wanted to keep the most, Tanev, they seemed to treat as the lowest priority.

I think its more the limited options then the scouting. There aren't many mid 20s top 4 left shot Ds available. Conroy and team have been pretty good about finding good players.

I still think Holtz would be a good gamble for a 3rd rounder kind of offer sheet, maybe even a 2nd. I see his situation as potentially the same as what Holloway's was in Edmonton.

Also we need LHD. Tanev is RHD where we have a glut of defence.

16th on waiver priority; low chance he'd get that far through the list

Both Nic Hague and K'Andre Miller are good at what they do, although both guys had off years. Hague is a prototype for what GM's and scouts covet- he's big and physical, and moves well- nobody expects him to be Cale Makar. He's an excellent player in an NHL bottom-three, let's not pretend he has negative value like a bunch of posters on here have exclaimed- that's just ridiculous.
Miller is a good two-way guy, although his defense suffered this year (along with his offense), but he had a team threatening an offer sheet to acquire him. He'll get it together this season.

They both bring something we don’t have currently, size and bite on the backend.
Flames haven’t had that since Zadorov and they were big fans of Z but he priced himself out.
You need at least a few big heavy D on the backend, we have Bahl now but he doesn’t play as heavy as he could, but a huge fan.

The Rangers as a whole had problems this year, so will be interesting to see Miller in a different organization.

Yup, a lot of players on that team regressed this season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rangers back in the playoffs, as long as Shesterkin comes back to form.
They have a bit of an odd age curve. Everyone, with the exception of Fox, is either over 30 or younger than 24.

What story on Isaac Howard? I know the Flames are looking for centers but they could use more scoring and skill in the lineup? Small size but is 21.
