How many goals was Skinner going to score as McDavid's winger?

If you don’t score on your first shift they have to go back to putting McDrai together because they’re down 1-0.

Hymans regression is going to be a great tale this upcoming season also.

RNH lost a step as well.

Mavi Diary - Day 6
Dear Diary. Let’s talk contracts today. It’s a big, big deal right now.
I’ve got the mgm gambling one, go auto, McDonald’s, Cibc, body armor, adidas, upper deck, and a few others that I’ve forgotten about. The acting gig is so easy; they just ask me to be myself and I bust out my middle emotion “meh”. People go crazy about my meh! They say things like “Connor makes cardboard feel alive” and “Connor shows that wood can have a personality too”! Honestly, this stuff makes me feel great because has this ever been said about Brad Pitt?
Leon’s a bit #jelly about it all. He signed with sports interactive gambling and skip the dishes. You will notice diary that these are inferior to mine. He’s not the jolly fellow that gets portrayed out there in the media. I know he comes off as a big fun laugh a minute guy and all around prankster but that’s just not true.
He’s not happy about my bff Austin, I know that. I had to speak with Leon a few times to explain that he’s my bestie during hockey season but I have a life away from him too. The last time I had to fib a bit and tell him that it was me, not him, but it’s actually him. We shared some tears together that day, let me tell you. I said that the longer we stay in the playoffs, the longer our relationship for the season lasts. He said that he understood that we each needed our space to grow but he didn’t want to grow apart. I told him that Austin and I were just friends and that there was nothing going on, and that Leon and I were teammates, but I think Leon suspects something because he asked if Austin had dinner at BPs with Brad and I. I told him no, of course not, but I didn’t want to upset him more so I didn’t mention the ice capades. I told Leon that he was my in season bestie, not Austin.
You know when everybody thinks that we are in the huddle before a face off designing some new play? That’s Leon trying to make me jealous by talking about parties and inviting guys over to try on his skip the dishes life sized bib. I’ve tried it on when Leon wasn’t looking; no big deal but it does smell of bratwurst, mustard, and sauerkraut. Seriously, we make face off plans before the game. It’s literally a face off which happens hundreds of times! Leon’s face off strategy is to skate forward and hold and fall on the other guy, so you know that isn’t what we talk about. I’m a bit jealous myself because he talks to teammates like friends, and I haven’t yet found a way to break the ice to talk to any of them.
That’s my biggest regret of the last few seasons. I didn’t have the courage or opportunity to speak to any of these players on the team and now they are traded or Stan sent them away. How will I ever get my courage back up?
Leon is a bit clingy. He told me that he only signed long term because he thought that was what I wanted. I told him that I just want him to be happy with himself and to find his own way, both with and without me. I told him that we need time apart, but then he passes to boo boo who gives it to the other team and they score and Leon and I are back together because Leon begged coach knobby. I told Leon that he was too good for me and I was holding him back, but he just cried and said that we can stay together longer as season friends if we play together and score together. He even said that he would be happy only getting secondary assists!
It’s enough to break a monochrome heart.
I’m not sure what to do; do I commit to the future that Leon and I built together or are we stronger apart? Will I watch him on ivanka and Ken’s show and be proud of him, together apart, or will I yearn for our times together winning me awards?
I need time and space away Diary. I’m sure glad that you and Lenard dog are such awesome communicators.
I’m tearing up like when I was gifted to the Oilers like an nhl sacrifice.
Talk tomorrow.

media members out there suggesting the Oilers have improved?!?!
like what are these guys on? a month ago they were on and on about Kane, Perry, Brown and their amazing depth.
Perry was their 3rd best forward. Mangiapane was a bum last year, and on no slouch of a team either

Out ------- In
Perry ------ Frederic
Arvidsson - Mangiapane
Kane ------ Jones
Skinner --- Savoie
Brown ---- Tomacek
Klingberg - ??
Frederic is good, but Perry was their 3rd best forward in the playoffs.
Is Mangiapane any better than Arvidsson? Sure, but not enough to move the needle
Every other replacement is a clear downgrade. Can Savoie be better than Skinner? Sure, eventually, maybe, but not this year.
No rational fan can look at that list and conclude they got better. They got a fair bit worse. And the other 8 forwards average almost 32 years of age.

I think it is fair to add Frederic, as he basically missed the regular season. Should add Lazar, but I don’t know who he replaces and whether that could be considered an upgrade.
The list tells me they ain’t meaningfully better, that is for sure.
Staying E=NG forever.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Oh right, Lazar - probably rotates in with Tomacek as a Brown replacement.
Doesn't move the needle in the slightest

sure but neither did Kane...with the Oilers being "cup or bust" I don't think the regular season really matters. They don't beat the Kings without Kane, although they shouldn't have with him.

Whatever - it is not possible to exactly align 5 replacements. The point was that they are not as good, which you agree with, so what is your point?

I'm expecting a new sure fire seven article in a month or so
https://thehockeynews.com/nhl/edmont...0-goal-scorers
we can recap last year's performers
Drasaitl 52 goals. This season's outlook- turning 30, remains one of the feared goal scorers in the NHL
Hyman 27 goals. This season's outlook- useful player (TSN has him pencilled as LW1 on Team Canada), just turned 33 and coming off injury
McDavid 26 goals. Will turn 29 years old this year, an offensive dynamo
Nuge 20 goals. This 32 yo former 1OV has one career 30 goal season. pencilled in as McDavid's linemate
Skinner 16 goals - is his career over? waiting by the phone
Arvidsson 15 goals- shipped as a cap dump to Boston
Kane 0 goals- shipped to Vancouver somehow
my guess is the new sure fire 7 are the first 4 above, Evan Bouch Bomb Bouchard, Andrew (turning 30 and got rich of my one 30 goal season 3 years ago) Mangiapane and Matt (19 goals in the AHL) Savoie

Podkolzin will hit 30 because he's getting better and will get more ice time with Perry gone, plus McDavid.
Frederick will hit 30 because he was given an eight year deal and that's how stars are born in Edmonton, plus McDavid.
Henrique will hit 30 because he's in a contract year, plus McDavid.
RNH will hit 30 as going through a broken hand at the end of the year will just make him come back stronger, plus McDavid.
Kapanen will hit 30 since he'll have a full training camp with the Oilers this year, and McDavid.
Hyman will hit 30 because after missing time for some major injuries he's well rested, plus McDavid.
Mangiapane once hit 35 so he's a lock for 30 in Edmonton being surrounded by such significant firepower, plus McDavid.
You can definitely expect 30 from Walman this year as everyone keys on Bouchard, who will be the best defenceman in the league this year because of his massive contract, plus McDavid.
In fact if anyone on the roster doesn't score 30 I'll be utterly shocked.

So they'll break the NHL record for having the most 30 goals scorers on the team.

Definitely, and I'm being conservative. At least half should hit 40.
