In totally unsurprising news...
Kurek, the Alberta MP who stepped down to allow Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre to run in his riding has a new job with a government relations and lobbying firm.
On Friday, Upstream Strategy Group announced Kurek as its newest principal, calling the former MP a “seasoned legislator” and a “tireless advocate” for Alberta.

It's probably just the crappy federal plan, and not the glorious APP.

The Libs can't wait for pouty Pierre to be back in the commons. Can't believe the Cons still want him as leader.

I think that Doug Ford is here for the Stampede, and really the only reason is that not all of the Conservatives want to keep Pierre. You blow a 26 point lead in the polls and lose your seat, and you have to think the knives are out.

Nanos Research’s latest numbers show the Liberals leading the Conservatives 45 to 31 per cent, and Prime Minister Mark Carney ahead of Poilievre in the preferred PM ranking at 53 to 23 per cent. In Nanos’ first post-election poll on May 2, Carney was leading Poilievre by only six points.

As soon as Ford called for the early provincial election I assumed the reason was so that his term would end right before the next federal election where he would look to take over as leader of the CPC.

No. It was because playing against Trumps crazy is the best card he has. That’s why.

Long term that wouldn’t help with what I think his intentions were too?
I think most conservatives assumed that without Trudeau as his punching bag the opinions of Pierre amongst Canadians who just wanted change would have quickly soured had he became Prime Minister. I doubt he would have been party leader by the next election. Kinda similar to what happened with Trudeau during his tenure as PM but I don’t think the CPC would wait as long as the liberals did to act on it.

I just think people underestimate how made Ford has it in Ontario… all his cronies are here, he’s basically untouchable. He’s living the absolute dream, holding fundraisers and palm greasing events under the guise of his kids marriages, etc… he just scrapped the science centre for development, and Ontario place for a spa… he’s making ABSOLUTE BANK here.
I don’t understand a reason he would leave his gravy boat.
