Anaheim - Robertson
Calgary - Mctavish and dumba/lybusbkin

I'd Add whatever else you need to Andersson to get this done too.

As per usual you're not responding to the actual post I made.

I haven't said he's good.
I haven't said he's bad.

I'm pointing out it would be nicer, and a lot less disruptive to hold to an opinion without the need to insult those that disagree with you.

One thing that should be noted on the debate of trading Ras now vs trading Ras at the deadline. Assuming an unprotected (or very lightly protected (e.g.: Top 3)) 1st rounder is a must, there is a chance of a lottery pick if traded now. Examples off the top of my head:

Phil Kessel trade from Bos to TO --> 1st became 2nd Overall and 9th Overall (Seguin and Hamilton)
Lucic trade from Boston to LA --> 1st became 13th Overall (Forgot who was picked)
Hamonic trade from NYI to CGY --> 1st became 12th Overall (Noah Dobson)
Jokinen trade from Coyotes to CGY --> 1st became 13th Overal??? (defensemen didn't pan)
Matt Duchene from Avs to Sens --> 1st became 4th Overall (Bowen Byram)
Erik Karlsson from Sens to Sharks --> 1st became 3rd Overall (Tim Stutzle)
Marleau dump from TO to CAR --> 1st became 12th?? Overall (Seth Jarvis)
Erik Karlsson from Sharks to Pens --> 1st became 11th Overall (Sam Dickenson)??

So there's a chance......

If traded at the deadline however, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a pick in the 20s.
I don't think we should hold Ras just to extract that extra piece (2nd or 3rd). Yes, I'm on team tank and I don't want those extra 5-10 points either.

That Matt Duchene trade is one of my favorite "failures". Ottawa gave up that 1st because they thought they were building on a strong playoff showing from the previous year and were only going to get better. Oops. Colorado was given a gift.

Out of curiosity, how many here would be willing to move Weegar for a potential future #1C? For example someone like Johnston, or McTavish? I realize Weegar has a full NTC, but Weegar is the one vet I could see bringing back a #1C. It would create a huge hole on D, but it might be the best move for the organization in the long term.

That would be a tough pill to swallow, but one I would do at the end of the day. We have a high-end Dman in the system but nothing close to a #1C imo.

Weegar is a potential future captain but moving him for a legit young 1C and likely sucking enough to potentially get Mackenna would kickstart this franchise.

1st round picks are now seldom traded without large protection, based largely on trades like the above that were not protected.

Weegar isn't worth as much as some posters think, I think you would be very disappointed in what he would return! Certainly not as a centrepiece for a #1 C, Jansen Harkins is probably what you could get for Weeger from the Ducks. As for the two players you mentioned there is zero chance they are traded, zero! The Flames don't have the assets anyhow, there is no good trade chips on this team and very little in the pipeline! The Stars wouldn't trade Johnston even if we offered Parekh, Coronato, Wolf, 10 1st round picks, KFC's recipe for their fried chicken batter, and the secret to how they get the Caramilk in the Caramilk bar. Let's face it, the Flames will always be in the mushy middle and are going about things all wrong!

Am I doing it right?

Ottawa got one taken away and one given to them in the same fashion. Karlsson goes to the Sharks and they go to the conference finals. He re-signs and they go in the tank. The 1st they end up giving Ottawa turns into Tim Stutzle and the Sens take Jake Sanderson with their own pick 2 spots later.

Sens also made the right call to keep their 2018 1st and select Tkachuk rather than give their 2019 1st which ended up being Byram.
